The bad news, only one, is the sound. It sounds like it was recorded in my grandmother kitchen. But don't be afraid. It's very listennable. simply it could have been better.
The good news, many, is that the music is absolutely wonderfull.  Long et complex songs, with many variations, atmospheres, fantastic arrangements and incredible melodies. You think of Capuano or Locurcio first, but no. It's a new voice, a new voice full of fantasy.
Jim, don't know where you are now, but bless you for introducing me to that inexhaustible source of beauty.

I'm falling in line with several of you guys in here, I've got it ready to go in an order with Greg Walker too. Very excited by this!

With latest flare up of Goblin in PA after Michael's live show review, I think its time I get another Goblin LP.  I only have Roller.  Wondering what the Den's thoughts are about what should be my next Goblin LP?  Or should it be the Cherry 5 album?

Jim, fans seem to like `Suspiria' and `Profondo Rosso' the best, they're both short but pretty damn good. Eerie, unpredictable, jazzy, bluesy...

Their debut `Cherry Five' is more like an early 70's prog band/album, sounding very much in the style of Yes, with moments like Fruupp too! The vocals are in English.

`Reale Impero Britannico' saw the band recording under a different name, and it's quite an upbeat and quirky little album! I've mentionmed to Pierre before that it kind of reminds me of the French band Air, lots of floating synth-pop! It's a bit of a favourite of mine, nice cruisy listening and positive vibes!

However, `Il Fantastico Viaggio del Bagarozzo Mark' is the album of theirs that most sounds like a stand-alone proper Italian RPI album. It seems to be a favourite of many of the regulars in here!

Thanks guys, listening to Pierre's tube link now...I am a sucker for a majestic organ sound (espically the pipe organ).  I will have to check out the 'Mark' also.

All mentioned Goblin albums are great. Cherry 5 (the secret debut) is
in a very different style (british prog) but really great to.

I think Live in Roma (2 CD or 2 LP) is a good start for some orientation about their huge catalog (if you like live albums).

Le Orme have a new lead vocalist, following Jimmy is now Fabio Trentini
who sounds a little bit like Aldo:

Gran Tourismo Veloce are working on their second Album at the Moment.

I still feel Tenebre is excellent and I would recommend that album.
My favourite 80's work done by them. :)

Good point, that double live album is superb! Just a massive overview of plenty of their pieces, mega keyboard heavy too, I convinced a guy in the merchandise stand at that recent Melbourne concert to buy it!
Thanks for the Le Orme update - wonder if they plan on recoridng a studio album as well with Fabio? I really dig that last one with Jimmy, so grand and pompous (I mean that in a good way!)!

Awesome! Fellow RPI team member Todd just added the band Ingranaggi della Valle as well as a wonderful review:

http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1003549

Simply one of the best modern Italian progressive releases, absolutely essential. I've been very intimidated by the thought of reviewing it, but great to see Todd delivered the goods!

So many great Italian releases this year, and the bar has been raised yet again by this release!

^ That album sounds awesome, espically after reading Todd's review and a 5 star rating (and a 14 out of 15 Gnosis web site rating).  It is available on the Zon, it will be gotten!  Thanks for shout on it, I may otherwise have missed it.Clap

Listened to Sensations's Fix - Music is painting in the Air (74-77) today while on a jet.  Very cool listening to it above the clouds, I had the window seat! Big smile

Guys, I'm hoping you might know - I'm especially look in your direction, Pierre!

Unless I read it wrong, I think I discovered recently that the vocalist Goblin used on the Cherry Five album is the same singer that is on the L'Uovo di Colombo album under a different name??

Is that correct, or did I misread something?! He sounds very different on both releases if it is him, perhaps because it's English on one album and Italian on the other.
