Of course, he had some kind of religion. Though, I would not regard him as very religious.

Thanks Embarrassed. I delved much into the histoy of Carthage, that's how I came across the novel by Flaubert. I have to admit I only read small parts of it. I did not much like what I read, e.g. that Hannibal survived his childhood only by a false trick. Flaubert gives the impression of being a neutral witness, but in fact he uses underlying subcodes, which I probably don't like.
