Hi
... of my own generation, who said they’d never bothered to listen to me until now, but in the process of looking for something else they might like, they’d found me, and some said they now knew why they’d kept hearing my name. Good for your confidence when things like that happen.” Roy Harper 2013
This is excellent news.
I have thought, for years, based on some of his last albums, that he did not want to do the "rock thing" any more because of its restrictive nature and the lack of ability for musicians to adapt to free forms as easily as he can with words and rhymes and visions.
You get the feeling that on the same song, on a 2nd night, he would change the lyrics and come up with something else, and this is a freedom that rock music has taken away from "poets", and specially so for the audience that is so indoctrinated into listening to the hits and the stuff they already know.
I thank you, Roy, for gifting us once again ... happy new year, indeed!
