From what I know of this site, many here are interested in LPs (or vinyl if you insist).

I'm not, my collection is in the attic. But I'm not a "Progger" anyway. I'm a Music-that-like fan.

I suspect he wants a list of what people have so he can swap or trade albums with someone else......I doubt I would ever do that with any of my collection, as Dean states I buy it for me, not to re-sell.

Sorry but CDs and Mp3s sound just fine and are much more convenient.

I don't need to collect and listen to vinyls for nostalgia.

I grew up with vinyl and lived through pops, scratches, flippin' the album over every 20 minutes, and knowing each time you played your album you've worsened the sound quality a little more. I went through 3 copies of Brain Salad Surgery alone. CD's were the greatest thing to happen to my music collection.

I prefer digital. Mp3s are not good quality, but there are digital formats out there that produce better quality than vinyl.

The media has nothing to do with nostalgia......if you are listening to Genesis SEBtP or Pink Floyd Meddle, you are in a nostalgic era or mood, regardless of media. When I listen to Steven Wilson The Raven album on vinyl I am not in a notalgic era or mood.

You are correct, CD and digital files sound just fine....but they don't make Genesis or Pink Floyd non-nostalgic sounding...its still old music regardless of how you listen to it.

The important thing is you listen to it.

^ That's not what he meant José. The nostalgia is a feeling, not a tangible or audible phenomena. Nostalgia comes from opening the gatefold, from removing the disc from the sleeve, from gently blowing the dust away, from scowling at the fingernail-scratch across the once pristine surface...

it's got nothing to do with the music contained or the listening thereof.

I gots nostalgia for grass right now.

Knobblandia gots a creek running through backyard and I now gorra go mow other side. This means, I , an old man wif no helper, gots to carry a heavy-body (self-propelled )Toro lawnmower across the creek and up 4 feet of gambion.

So's iffin you dont hear from me today, I bust a kidney or sum gut and drwoned in 10 inches of creek wattah.

When rain comes, me carcass be washed out, ragged and torn on sharp riverbed rock to shore of Lake Ontarieur where some pokey child gonna come upon me glassy eyes and wide-open gob wif an eel peering out.

Him be traumatoizered for life, belikes.

I understand what you are explaining....but I also say EXACTLY!

Moshkito talks about the experience of listening, maybe that is more nostalgic. For me vinyl has nothing to do with nostalgia, its about sound. I do think the younger crowds I run into at the used record stores are seeking that nostalgic feeling, they want to experience that, what their parents felt like when they spun the Beatles or James Brown...I have asked many why they are in the store, its a common reply.

But I am not interested in discussing feelings......to personal for me as I have no clue who any of you are, personally.

By the way, I love vinyl, though I do collect more pysche, jazz,, tropica, and lounge-y music than so-called Prog-proper records. I also like latex, but that's another story.
