I really like the Airbag album so far. So much I downloaded it. The singer does remind me a bit of the vocalist of Anathema. The music is more along the lines of Shamrain. But they still sound like themselves fort he most part. I also like what I have heard of the Eeecocampe (?) so far. I will give the rest of the album a listen. And if it is anywhere near as good as that song it is as good as downloaded.

Beautiful. Are their entire albums vocal oriented or just one or two tracks here and there?

This band is suppose to have the same vocalist as Ghost (B.C) but this band has a more atmospheric post-rock vibe than Ghosts Satanic approach. This is the gorgeous sound of Magna Carta Cartel. |

I am glad you two like it. ![]() There's only one instrumental track. There is also a female singer. For me, it is a kind of mix between Sigur Ros and Renaissance. A must ! http://autumnchorus.bandcamp.com/ Edited by PhideauxFan - July 18 2013 at 02:33 |

Nosound (Italy).
It is not pure post-rock (more atmospheric progressive rock), but it is very good. ![]() |

Sorry, only just been reminded of this thread.
http://nuevanoventa.bandcamp.com This is fantastic and worth your time (and free download). Vocals sometimes sound like Sigur Ros due to foreign language, but there are some rather heavy moments that sound nothing like them. Overall one of the most unique things I've heard this year. The new Long Distance Calling also has vocals, but they're basically an Alternative Rock band with post-rock parts now.

No one mentioned Talk Talk and Slint? Sure, they aren't in post/math category on the site, but they are one of the inventors of the genre, with Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden being arguably the first post-rock album. Now, Talk Talk has vocals, but they aren't prominent most of the time (not to say they aren't important, they are for sure). I'd recommend Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, both are essential post-rock albums.
If you like those, check out Mark Hollis' self-titled solo album. Slint has more math-rock and post-hardcore influenced, but their album Spiderland is a masterpiece. Here, vocals are much more important and prominent, often narrating a story through a song. Lyrics are spoken, shouted or sung, and you have both clean and fuzzing guitars creating awesome atmospheres. Do listen to Spiderland. |

![]() Anyway for an unbelievably incredible vocal recording try:
Marillion - Marbles (2CD set) That may be the best vocal performance in the last 25 years, regardless of generations or classification. Its all music right???

Post-rock is a subgenre of rock music characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock, but using rhythms and "guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures" not traditionally found in rock. Post-rock bands are often without vocals.[2][3][4] Don Caballero and Tortoise were among the more prominent bands described as post-rock in the 1990s, but their styles are very different, despite being instrumental bands centered on guitars and drums. As such, the term has been the subject of backlash from listeners and artists alike.[5] Although firmly rooted in the indie or underground scene of the 1980s and early '90s, post-rock's style often bears little resemblance musically to that of contemporary indie rock.[3][4] Contents[hide] |
