Topic: No, really- a serious question Posted: December 08 2004 at 03:37 |
Just wondering if I take up valuable resources when I leave the forum page up when I'm not at my PC. Sometimes I'll check it briefly and then leave the window minimized for long periods of time (even day or more)...is that bad?
I know it causes a little extra load on my PC, so I can't help thinking it might be a bad thing for the server. But I'm not familiar with the way networks handle resources and calls and things like that...

It's a good thought. I do the same (ie. leave the page up during the day).
However, I'm sure that unless there is a HUGE amount of forum use at one point during the day, I don't believe it would cause any real problems.
But hey, that's a question for a webmaster I guess...

Yeah, there's no load on the forums themselves except when you're actually moving around it or posting.
