OK, no one yell at me, but aside from The Power To Believe, I've never bought a hard copy of any King Crimson albums.

**deflects vegetables**

KC is one of those bands I got into during a time when I didn't buy a lot of albums, either because of lack of funds, or other reasons. By the time I got into buying albums more regularly, I knew the KC discography, and never felt like picking any of the albums up.

Well, these new 40th Anniversary reissues that Steven Wilson did have kept me intrigued, and I'm now looking into getting some of them. But I haven't completely followed the news surrounding their release.

1st question is: Which one is the best one?
2nd question is: Are all 13 studio albums reissued?
3rd question is: Are the reissues significantly different that the older versions? If so, how dramatic are the differences? Will I miss the old versions if I get the new ones?

Oh man. Your in for a treat. These 40th anniversary editions are so worth it, money and time wise.

My favourite is IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING.

An exceptional 2 disc set that has great demos and Rough takes on ' I talk to the wind' and moonchild. Really neat.
And of couse an incredible 5.1 disc remastered by Wilson.

Other honorable mentions RED, ISLANDS, LIZARD and LARKS TOUGUES IN ASPIC.

having King Crimson in 5.1 audio surround sound is worth buying them enough!

Darkshade. It's a real treat. Highly worth it, but be prepared to pay 20$ or over for them. ;)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Thanks for the info! 2 discs?? Awesome. Do they have the old versions of the albums on there too?

They haven't done Starless and Bible Black or Red yet I guess? Or the 80s albums, right?

They've done everything up to and including Discipline.

I've actually gone for the 30th anniversary editions as they are much cheaper and sound great to my ears. No intention of upgrading. Its just all too much money for likely to be little extra benefit (imo)

However I would also ask a question - are these SW remasters on a par with the Genesis remasters that came out a few years or so ago? Those are exceptional.

Are there plans to re-release the post-Discipline albums?

I can't imagine TCOL or TPTB will be remastered, but what about the 80s albums and THRAKK?

I think I'll just get these reissues in chronological order, though a friend of mine was raving about the new LTIA the other day.

Beat, ToaPP and THRAK are in process, according to Robert Fripp's Diary. Haven't heard or read anything about TCoL or TPtB being remastered, so they probably won't be.

TPTB, especially, sounds so good already, too. As I said, I don't see a reason to re-release it.

Good to know the other albums are getting a re-release too.

Well I think the Genesis remastered editions are slightly better.

Nick Davis is a better audio engineer than Steven Wilson. Just my opinion. Both are so good though.
I love listening to a trick of the tail remastered in 5.1.

Not much better than that for me.

Some demos and outtakes are available. It's quite interesting hearing a few different versions of moonchild.
Listen bud. Enjoy. Grab RED and IN THE COURT. Both fantastic digital remastered. Sounds like the music came out today. So fresh and polished...in a good way though that doesn't take away from authenticity. :)

^ Is it still on sale?

Sorry, but I never got around to getting any of these KC albums. I got a case of jam band fever not long after this thread was created, and it's only now started fading away, and with the reunion of the new King Crimson, my interest is piqued again.

I think I really want that LTIA 40th Anniversary set.

When are they releasing the 40th Ani of Power to Believe? A remaster of that would be amazing!

this definitely goes along with me and Yes. I only have 2 multi-disc compilation albums, but i want to have some of their studio albums. some of them are pricey indeed, but i havent found any from Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, etc. im interested in the 2003 reissued stuff of all the albums up to and including 90125 can someone lend me a hand on that one

The 40th Anniversary LTIA is pretty sweet. It sounds sooo much better, and I got the one with the DVD, and it has a 20 minute jam with the LTIA lineup. That was some wild improv.
