Topic: 10 Crossover Prog Albums Posted: June 07 2013 at 10:59 |
Here are 10 albums that almost have nothing in common with each other, although a few could be seen as being in the same style.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Definitely Roxy Music's "For Your Pleasure"...any album with a song like "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" deserves to win

Bleh . . . No Phideaux, No Gazpacho, No Big Big Train, shoot, not even anything from Steven Wilson, nothing newer than 2000? No vote for me.

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.

I went with the Moodies. Saga would be 2nd. I think that Amorok is the only one that I haven't heard on the list. All of them are pretty enjoyable in their own ways.

NIN are one of the very best Prog-related bands I can think of.
Downward spiral is a great album, but not even close to their best work.
I would have put either GHOSTS or THE FRAGILE:THE HALO 14 on this poll.
Far better albums and still fit the same genre specifications

I Robot has been very a special album to me. I haven't listened to it for a long time, but it was one of my very favourite albums for a long time.

I saw Bryan Ferry do that song live once, what a treat! I voted for Roxy as well.

Good list! Tough choice. Gonna go with Supertramp on this one: too many all-time favorites on Even in The Quietest Moments...

Big Big Train is one of my favorite bands right now, but the Xover label is just wrong.
If anyone deserves a genre switch its them.

Worlds Apart. This is one of the albums I play every now and then throughout the years. Amused to Death is a close second.
