Sadly, Nic Cage has become something of a joke, signing on for just about anything these days. Kind of chosen quantity over quality, but every once in a while he still puts in a great performance. `Matchstick Men' from some years back was superb!
From a purely entertaining point of view, `The Sorceror's Apprentice' is terrific goofy fun, and I have a soft spot for his two Ghost Rider flicks, terrific B-movie trash, and based on one of my favourite comic books!
Poor Wesley really slipped into B-grade/direct to video rubbish years ago, which is a shame....then again, he's in prison now, which is MUCH worse lol! Aginor, I would have loved to see Wesley make a full-blooded martial arts flick.....he never did. I guess the Blade films shows off most his skills?
I LOVE that Nic Cage film `8MM', what a nasty, tense and confronting film that was.
I'm a sucker for any film with a vigilante element to it! ![](smileys/smiley4.gif) |
I think ithe reason why Nic chose those recent films is that he states he is tired of action roles and that it does not reflect his interest or persona, he is more like a Tim Burton persona in interests, a geek, a weirdo, he loves comics, supernatural, fantasy and in his interest he would do more roles in like a Dungeons and Dragons type of flick then another Con-Air or the Rock, cause his interests lies more in magic then in firearms. ( a similar case is Jim Carey)
Wesley's case is that he want to use more of his acting training and be seen as a versatile character player, he is a guy who can recite Shakespeare and Ibsen and do capoeira while doing it, but he want to be asosiated with the poetic roles, i think he urges fpr roles like Pan or Peer Gynt or something like that, or Great Gatsby, a classy role where he don't have to woop ass be elegant and such.

Viggo Mortensen(The road and History of violence for example or LOTR),Russell Crowe was great in Gladiator and I think that Blade 2 was Wesley Snipes'best performance and here are actors I really like:James Coburn,Lee Van Cleef,Clint Eastwood,Rod Steiger,Charles Bronson,Steve Mc Queen,Franco Nero,Tomas Milian,Lee Marvin,Robert Ryan,Gian Maria Volonte and Ernst Borgnine.

Am I the only one who voted for Pearlman? Loved Rourke in Sin City though.

I don't really know anything where you can actually see Anthony Head, but his Hercules in the radio comedy Cabin Pressure is possibly the only performance I can imagine standing up to Roger Allam in a smarm-off.

Obviously Nicolas Cage! The most important of our time. His acting is the textbook on what not to do! ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) I always liked Tom Hanks a lot. Makes people laugh but I don't know, he's pretty good.
