I often go on about how Future Days is my all time favorite album but I don't often mention my second favorite album, mainly because it's not a prog album. But The Kinks "Something Else" from 1967 is about as perfect as albums get, and here's my favorite song of the day, taken from it.
That's a really cool top list. Somehow the Kinks have slipped through the cracks in my musical education; I must rectify this soon

From what I know about your tastes, The Kinks should be a no-brainer. You'll love it.

"Careful" by Television.
I like lines like "Your wine is just sour grapes -- pour me a glass any time I'm not there" and the ringing, singing lead guitar. It's been in my head all morning -- I'll have to listen to it now.
The Trashmen - Bird is the word.
For a tune made in the year of the JFK assassination, meaning 1963, it sure is raw and uncouth. Remember the first time I saw Full Metal Jacket and it suddenly came on. I was instantly hooked.
