I just looked but it doesn't seem to be online anymore. The site address goes directly to the other hall of fame(the one that seems to hate prog). Doesn't anyone know what happened to the progressive rock hall of fame?

Wow, I guess nobody on here knows anything about this. I guess it just fell apart maybe because they were taking themselves too seriously. If you put in "progressiverockhalloffame.com" now it just goes to the regular r&r hall of fame apparently. Oh well. Maybe now that Rush is in the regular one now we don't need a prog hall of fame anyway. We'll see.

Rush getting in was a real bonus for me personally, though I wonder if anyone kept a record of the prog hof... I cant remember who was in it besides I believe the obvious; ELP, VDGG, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Genesis and Rush.

No we don't know who. Smile

I was referring to an actual progressive rock hall of fame which believe it or not did exist although there probably wasn't actually a physical place just a website. That website now defaults to the regular R*RHOF so now it's like the PRHOF never existed although maybe it's still on facebook(not sure).

Anyway, this is a shame. Some saw it as a joke and I think they shot themselves in the foot by charging a membership. Some of their memberships were way too high. It probably scared most people away and made many not take it very seriously.

Here is the only existing information still on the internet that I have found about it. http://powerofprog.com/profile/ProgressiveRockHallofFame?xg_source=activity

Wow, yes it is. Thanks. It looks like they changed their name from "progressive rock hall of fame" to progressivemusic hall of fame." Who knew. LOL. Good for them that they are still around. I'm guessing there was some sort of legal reason they had to change it. Maybe it was causing some kind of confusion with "those other guys." Tongue

Hi,

Personally, I would rather that all the progressive music websites get together and help do this by ourselves.

I do not want to have anything to do with the Hall of Shame, and its dis-respect for so much other music and musicians, and in general, their policy to kiss owners and people that robbed so many other musicians, to make their millions and fame, and then create something to continue making money for their own investments, and it has nothing to do with music itself!

I find the Hall of Shame an embarassment to what it stands for ... it only does for the fame and famous and the fortuitous bands that "made it", which helped the record companies make so much money, that they can burn a little to make sure these artists are "remembered", while making sure that they leave behind the corpses of those they robbed and stole from!

I realize this sounds ... bad, and sometimes pathetic ... but folks like Branson have robbed people for far too long, and they are not honorable enough to do good by their deeds. But the Hall of Shame would not dare not name someone in that group, or the support from that group would be removed, and the Hall of Shame would begin to crumble when so many artists would no longer be there, and Branson creates his own Bransonville in London, and makes the Hall of Shame look like a kid's store, or better yet, a pawn shop!

If we are to make a point, and make it stand up in History, you have to stand up ... STAND UP ... and tall ... I mean TALL ... and we do not have to wait for the Hall of Crap to say thank you to Robert Fripp, after all his years of tormenting so many of those companies with his words! His music aside, he's a jerk, right? Like Bob Dylan never was either ... but he sold 100 times more, and is now cynical enough to continue selling if he feels like it!

I don't know what the future holds, but I doubt that the Hall of Shame will ever say ... a special and warm pat in the back to Peter Hammill ... or a Klaus Schulze ... or a Tangerine Dream ... folks that deserve the credit for their pioneering work ... that will die without the recognition they deserve! I suppose that happens to most musicians in the planet and artists ... but still ... any recognition is better than none, and this is where PA and some of these websites are massively important.

And with that ... thank you PA and all the friends here and everywhere that believe in this music!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Prog rock music awards exist. That may be enough, but I'd love a whole ceremony as big as the Oscars to honor our prog greats each year. Make it a 3hr program. I'd watch!!
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I just noticed the progressive music hall of fame website is apparently non existent now. I think the PROG magazine that does the prog awards should take it over and do the prog hall of fame from now on. We'll see. Even though YES will probably get into the regular one I think a prog hall of fame is in order. There is so much more prog out there than the mainstream media will have you believe. Even if a few more bands other than YES get in they will all be bands from the seventies and all bands who have been played to death on the radio(PF, ELP, JT and MAYBE KC).
