Either the wonderful Lush album `Split', with some of those longer dreamy emotionally draining epics, or that knockout first Verve album `A Storm In Heaven' would be the highest recommendation here!
The Verve actually used to be such a beautiful, floating and hypnotic psychedelic band.....long before any `Bitters**t Symphonies'!

oh i do love shoegaze stuff........saw atlas sound a few years ago...and for one guy with an acoustic man did he make a wall of sound........obviously MBV and lush are up there.....also along with cocteaus you better stick this mortal coil along side them ( a bit more arty)...there seems a bit of a new wave revivial at the mo.....Daughter are a nice new band....i break horses are shoegazy but a bit more of a trance vibe involved......quite like this at the mo.....goes a bit dancy towards the end.....but deffo a track which could've been from that early 90s period......

Spiritualized too.
Mm yes. I like me some Spiritualized. Especially the first three or four albums. Haven't checked out Spacemen 3 yet. Worth the effort? How do they compare to Spiritualized?
