First thoughts are not really prog but one, Sweet - Desolation Blvd. The Monkees - The Best of...  (I know...sorry, but it makes me smile at the memories and innocence of my youth) Todd Rundgren's Utopia (the album, not the band, never tire of it)

Everything I've heard by Mike Oldfield is happy feel good music. I think the best is Hergest Ridge.

A tough question with so many good lp's over the years......but I suppose the ones I listened to in college while in an ..ahem..altered state of cosnciousness.  Yes- Yes lp KC-In The Court.... Genesis-Selling England ELP-same .but I suppose the one I go back to time and time again is Court....I never tire of hearing it.

'Indie' isn't my scene, but this one sounds somewhat eclectic and the instrumentation is diverse and interesting. I hope it works out well. Yeah man, you'll love it. Especially coming from a progressive and experimental background, you'll sure to appreciate it's conceptual structure and exotic instrumentation. I'm surprised you hadn't heard or seen it before. It's quite an iconic album.

Yeah man, I mean, it's been made pretty famous over the internet, especially from 4chan's music forum - /mu/. They slave over that album over there. It's practically been made into almost a joke/ meme, it's so iconic now.  But man, I'm glad you picked it up.

Tales from Topographic Oceans I guess... any Yes album up until (and including) Relayer as well as "Olias of Sunhillow" kinda work also. Both Jon's lyrics and the way they sometimes come up with melodies that just make me smile every time I hear them are the main reasons why Yes is my artist to go to for cheering up. For a single song, I always pick "Time and a Word", it's hippe-styled naive view on the world is amazing.

Yep, agree with both Snow and Doctor on this one, I think both `90125' and the first Asia album are pretty decent! Really fine melodic rock with slight proggy moments, but very catchy and undemanding pop/prog to hum along to.
I've never heard the GTR album, although I am aware of it, and any Asia album after the first one doesn't do anything for me, but I have to say I extend my poppy Yes love further for `Big Generator' as well! 
Heh, I even find a couple of tracks on `Open Your Eyes' quite enjoyable too, if very overproduced!
