Awwwww, what seems to be the problem, Are you too cool for Geddy Lee's high pitched vocals
No, the voice is the least of my concerns. Some aspects of the music itself leave me rather cold. I'm not a big fan of tinkling stuff and synthesizers in hard rock.

^ Well, as I've said before (once I edited the post), the synthesizers and the tinkling instrument (whatever it is) used in the hard rock context. This kind of chemistry is just not for me. Plus, some chord progressions are hard to digest, let alone the ones strummed on the electric guitar (and I'm a big fan of lead guitar, not chord strumming ... kind of like Ritchie Blackmore's perspective on playing the guitar).

^^^ Well, Rush was probably the first band to do this in the hard rockI(d argue Heavy Metal)-Prog Rock context and I'm sorry it doesn't fit you. I wish we can all like the same bands but I guess that's not always the case. I believe you are probably talking about those percussive instruments Neil hits(I believe they're called woodblocks or temple blocks, etc). And yes, Alex does play some unusual chord progressions but that's what I love about them. Guitar heavy(at times) and yet still Proggy enough

^ Oh, no, I'm cool with the blocks. It's that tinkling thing ... sounds like a triangle ... and some of the synth work ... it just doesn't make the music masculine in my opinion.

The Tubular Bells, wind chimes?? I love those. Masculine?(Have you heard Cygnus-X 1) that sh*t unnerves me towards the end! What are you talking about here. Music can't have a sex gender

Judging only from Bowies single, which is a snoozefest of the highest order, I won't be bothering with it.

Oh
yeah sure, we're all deluding ourselves because we're irrational Bowie
fans who secretly hate the album but won't admit it because we refuse to
find any fault with what is clearly our personal god.
...or maybe we genuinely like it?

It's the only song on the album of that style. The rest is much more rock-oriented.
