Those first two IRON MAIDEN albums are the most swinging albums of heavy metal history, I love him for it.

R.I.P. He may now be the phantom of the opera. Sad news again. He was an incredible drummer. He also had a terrible illness which left him to run for his life. Is March 13 2013 the worst date for prog. I learned all these events that date.

Sad news.
I saw Maiden in 1980 on their first tour - they are the last survivors of the NWOBHM. R.I.P. Clive Burr. |

Very sad news.
To think I only listened to the first `Iron Maiden' album and `Killers' the other day....Well, he played on two knockout albums, and `Number Of The Beast', which is overrated to me, though still good! But pretty awesome to think he will forever be linked to what a hell of a lot of people consider a classic, defining album. RIP, Clive, thanks for being part of some special albums :) |

You saw them in 1980! they were intense back in those days... i guess they were mainly tourin' UK in 1980 ... As Whitesnake and Judas Priest are sometimes associated to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene or at least they were their big brothers...both bands are very much alive ...and even if you don't count them as NWOBHM (it's optional) ...Saxon is really there... and releasing respectable albums... Def Leppard are not completely dead either...
But it's true that Maiden commercially lead the whole "NWOBHM Survivors" scene... but from my point of view... the modern Iron Maiden ...is not my cup of tea at all...it's mainly stuff for white teenagers obsessed by bloody computer games. Clive Burr played in my fave Iron Maiden records, now the man is surely takin' some good time, who knows ?, maybe he is playin' djembe upon clouds by now...at last he is released of his painfull body... |

He was 56.
However, was he let go because he wanted to leave, or because of booze/drugs - I read he developed MS in the 1990's
