They are two of my favorite Prog Bands so it would be a tie for me.

I just quoted a bunch of albums that by general consensus are better that TFTO. You need to stop stating things as facts and rolling around on the floor when anyone contradicts you. It's your opinion that TFTO is better than anything KC ever did, and the majority of prog fans do not agree with you so you are in the minority. There is therefore no need use rolling on the floor icons.

Due to the awful Yes albums since the 80's (with a few notable exceptions) and King Crimson's consistency in releasing great albums throughout their forty + years career AND for always finding ways to sound modern or even ahead of their time (even on The Power to Believe, one of my faves), King Crimson gets my vote easily.  Of course I LOVE the albums from the classic Yes period though, Gates of Delirium being one of my favorite prog epics ever...

We all know Rush is better by your logicWink

Ok, point 1, this is a Yes - KC thread so Genesis & Rush aren't relevant.

Point 2 (and remember you brought this up) I decided to check your logic on Rush & Genesis so I compared the top 5 albums by all three bands across PA, Gnosis & RYM.

they do. look it up, please.

  Progarchives Gnosis Rateyourmusic

Moving Pictures 4.40 10.98 4
2112 4.07 10.27 3.85
Farewell To The Kings 4.34 10.51 3.91
Permanent Waves 4.31 10.69 3.93
Average 4.30 10.66 3.93

LTiA 4.38 12.97 4.06
Red 4.51 12.55 4.22
ITCOTCK 4.58 12.95 4.3
Lizard 4.1 12.21 3.72
Discipline 4.09 11.16 3.89
Average 4.33 12.37 4.04

Nursery Cryme 4.41 12.36 3.95
Foxtrot 4.60 12.68 4.04
SEBTP 4.62 12.74 4.10
TLLDOB 4.27 11.84 4.01
ATOTT 4.26 10.93 3.86
Average 4.43 12.11 3.99

This clearly shows that across these three sites that are well respected for their ratings (PA & RYM for the literally thousands of people inputting ratings & Gnosis for its expert opinions)

1. Genesis is the most highly rated on PA with KC & Rush tied for second
2. KC has the highest rating on RYM but all three are essentially so close to be a three way tie
3. Gnosis rates KC first, Genesis second & Rush a distant third which I don't find surprising given Gnosis leanings.

So in summary KC and Genesis are similarly compared with Rush slightly lower rated. This does not surprise me given the general feel I get from all three sources.

So no I do not accept your premise that Rush are clearly better than KC as I cannot find any reputable source who rate Rush higher.

Ian, I was talking about the entire discography not certain albums. Take a look and I think you would be surprised and I have yet to find any ratings on Gnosis(I probably haven't checked right but I haven't found any). I love how you clearly thought this out and took the time to make it Wink

^^^ What are you trying to prove by hounding me every damn thread, just stop it already, this is between me and Ian. I know I know that you have thought about this and put it into your stubborn heads. This only proves my point that music is objective that it's all left to individual preference, Ian however is twisting things around yet again. Have you heard the saying that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" well the same goes for music.

^^^ Nogbad compared TFTO to KC albums, not Yes.  It was you who manipulated the question conveniently to turn it into Yes v/s Genesis.  The point is simply that TFTO is not as universally acclaimed as you make it out to be.  If you as an individual like it more than some KC albums, it doesn't entitle you to laugh at and mock contrary opinions.

That he keeps quoting stuff as facts that are clear bullsh*t. When anyone calls him on it he resorts to "check it out" and rolling on the floor laughing emoticons. Well I checked it out and called him on. I want him to realize that all he ever posts is his opinion, it has no basis in anything mathematical or statistical.

If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, why do you have such a huge problem with any opinion that favours a KC album over one of Genesis and Yes?   You only argue to be left alone when it comes to your own opinions, you are reluctant to show that respect to others in the first place and usually incite these arguments yourself by mocking them.

^^^ I know that, rogerthat. I just don't agree with him. Got me, good. I just thought that some of the albums he listed were not even close but again that's my preference and what I have been trying to point out all alon. I don't see what is wrong with anyone having an opinion about anything here

I don't have a huge problem letting people have an opinion about anything here. I mean take a look Gandalff post earlier in this thread. Is that respectful I think not

1) You've just stated that music is objective. Fix it unless you want to be laughed at.
2) If you are complaining about me "hounding" at you or whatever, then you are gonna have to stop trying to convince us that quality lies in quantity. Quit it unless you want to be laughed at even more and louder.
3) This is a public forum. This ain't between you and Ian.
