I hear ya man, I was always ashamed it's not one of my top 10 RPI albums, actually it's not in my top 50 either.
It's not only the sweetness as you said, it's those too long and soft slow arrangements. Said that, the album is never bad and it has some stunning melodies.

I agree with New Trolls, Circus 2000 and Formula 3 and would add Osanna Palepoli and Delirium Dolce Acqua to my "black list."

Thanks, Chris! It's a damn good album too! Look at that lovely cover as well (cough cough "vinyl copy NOW" - cough!)

I could write a review, but it couldn't be for two more days until I finish nightshift (The two or three I've put up over the last few days were essentially thawed out from `cold storage', just been sitting in my email lol!). I'm also waiting on a CD of it to arrive, just sent the other day.

I have a feeling it might be one of the years best....early days, but it IS damn good.... :)

Hey everyone, just at work right now, listening to Antonius Rex's `Ralefun', one of my favourites, and thought I'd share a nice track from it:

Antonious Rex - Agonia Per Un Amore:

Just give it a little bit, after the eerie opening, when the guitar/flute/vocals come in, a really lovely track. You know, I can't help but feel it reminds me a little of early PFM, though I can't quite place why....?

Holy heck, Pierre, look at that cover!! Amazing - and disturbing!

I'm assuming some ultra rare/vinyl only rarity?

Indeed and it's a very good album well worth checking out. I'm going to buy myself a copy in a week or 2 - spent a bit too much this last couple of week's already.

Hey, Paul and Jim busting out two great RPI reviews on the main page! :)

Have to say, Paul, that `Maschera' album has really grown on me, it's a really strong listen, and not overlong either! Lovely old vinyl length album (Yes, I'm aware it's actually ON vinyl, as I bought that version myself!)

Michael, Ralefun is a nice listen isn't it?  It's almost like "the normal" AR album....the least offputting.  I seem to recall Antonio saying he wasn't that fond of it, because it brought too much attention, or something like that. I could be wrong, just going from my bad memory!

Aria Palea is interesting also, I don't have their stuff.  Pretty nice!

Definitely enjoying this.  Thank you.  That synth entrance at about 1:41, well met!!  For my money they didn't have to go back to the opening material at the end, but ya makes yer choices.  Very niceThumbs Up

Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"?

Jim! As much as I love more or less all the Rex/Jacula albums, especially the darker ones, `Ralefun' is just a really lovely....RPI album!!

I assume the reason Antonio dismisses it a bit more if because it's the most tradionally `prog' of their releases. It's certainly the most acessible and approachable of their albums, I think many RPI collectors would really go for it if they heard it.

As for him not liking it, well, the artist is sometimes their own worst critic! He should acknowledge it on it's own merits and be very proud of it

A remastering for Ralefun would be nice, especially for the last song. Can't hear enough the rythm guitar Head on wall
