as far as I can tell, 'random' is a catch-all for something you don't quite follow but feel compelled to reply, and possibly make yourself seem more intelligent in the procress (assuming the other person is equally illiterate). As in:
John: this show sucks.
Joe: it's a bit derivative and lacks visceral dialogue.
John: dude, that's so random.
But I could be wrong! Maybe someone else knows a better definition. After all, once enough people make a mistake, it ceases to be a mistake and becomes: common usage
