I write music too, and we all listen to a lot of complex music. It goes to show that our evolution is not so easily clouded out by 6000 years of musical creation. We still feel moved by what moved us 500,000 or 1 million years ago.

The subtleties are what grabs me ... a little wind, you can hear the trees wave ... you can hear a bird squirm, or talk to his brother or sister ... you hear a cat or dog jump around some ... you hear a harder pitch on the rain drops ... and on and on and on ...

Reminds me of the "Environment" series of LP's a long time ago ... and the fact that I ended up disliking them, because they were not good recordings, and they made sure that the "reality" was taken out of the moment in time! It's almost like so many of those LP's were on a constant loop, and not the real thing!
 
Now, let's not get started with the Horror House sound effects! Embarrassed
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Krautrock is the place to go for something akin to that. Sure there's instruments involved, but like I said previously in this thread, there's been quite a few artists outta Germany who've experimented with sounds from the natural world, not only water.
Psychedelic music in general I would say. The Japanese scene from around the same time did something similar.

Sometimes I wish that there was music made entirely from natural sounds... They should really be used more often.

I love the sound of rain and waves, and love it when they're incorporated in music. Even something as subtle as the rain in the middle of Marillion's Power adds a great feeling and texture to the song.

I agree, although it's been a while since I went all out Hunter with music and friends in the forest.

I really dig the noises that come from old boats too. Again with the water.....

speaking of that, I jammed on the beach one while tripping on LSD and the waves were in rhythm with my music.

but yeah, i find music in all natural ambient noises. big cities can also be very interesting

I know the feeling. I have a deep meaningful relationship with the ocean, well just water in all of it's multicoloured facets actually.
I loooove when it gets incorporated into music as well. Krautrock seems to be the ultimate distributor of said constellation. I have a lot of German releases from the 70s, where water sounds as if it was an instrument on its own. Sloshing, running, dripping, pelting or waving elegantly - it somehow always has this majestic elegance to it when applied to psychedelic music.
