Pink Floyd Appreciation Thread

I am 14 years old, and started listening to prog at 13 years old(really young) Well I started to listen to prog with Pink Floyd, I think that the first song Iv'e ever heard of them was "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" not too "proggy" but it made me into the band itself, and when I first listened to "The Narrow Way" I started listening to it again and again, I hadn't noticed as a full night past :) , and I still had to go to school after that, in the bus I was listening to it again, After Pink Floyd I heard "Funny Ways" by "Gentle Giant" and that was when I really started to try and get to know a lot of progressive bands, especially progressive rock.

Can I remind everyone that discussing bootlegs is technically against forum rules. (5. No Illegal activities) - and that includes recordings of the full Zabriskie Point soundtrack sessions.

Depends on the nature of the discussion. If you are consciously chewing on the nature of the music on the bootlegs, PA might have a legal problem with that. I have no legal expertise. My guess tells me that.

Half-right, the 1997 bonus disc of the soundtrack adds a further 4 Pink Floyd tracks bringing the total offically releasded to 7. I believe the total is 15.

The World Tour '74 live discs are a treasure that I'm so pleased have been given an official release. The non-orchestral live versions of AHM and the lengthy live versions of Embryo are others I would love to see given an official release.

You know, there is a web site whose name I can't recall right now, that had many shows by many bands available for listening, including some Floyd shows with these tracks.  It was an "official" site, which sold some of the shows as downloads (but not all), as well as various memorabilia.  Not sure if it's still around or was shut down or what (I used to get email updates from them, but haven't for some time).

I haven't heard the Wall demos on the new Wall release, but I did get the new Dark Side and Animals (the middle versions, not the immersion ones), and the concerts were really nice, and believe they are more worthy than the demos. I didn't really want to spend the big money on the immersion sets, and am not sure that the few extra tracks would have been worth it. As well as with The Wall, I'm not sure it's worth spending on that album just for a bunch of demos. Though I must say I did hear a demo of Another Brick in the Wall part 1 that I did like a lot, though it was the only song I thought worthy of the bunch of demos I got to hear, and I'm not sure if it's part of the discovery or immersion set of the wall... if I had a way to know for sure if it's in the discovery edition I might just as well think about getting that one.
