Yeah, I thought I was being good by comparing my "two small cups" of coffee to the addicts at work that have three or more LARGE cups of coffee each morning.  But no.  then when I realised how much caffeine is in cola and chocolate, as you mentioned.... that makes for way too much caffeine.  Funny, I will be just like you.  I will hold on to my chocolate until they give me last rites.  Everything else has to go though...

Harvest of Souls is a great song, isn't it?Clap

Walking 3 kilometers to work???  I thought you lived in the States?  What's with the silly Euro-talk?
(But....That is AWESOME you have that good exercise in the morning every day!Smile)

Every afternoon also, when I walk home Big smile  (well, actually, some days I have to drive, since I have to go pick up my son......but most days I walk)

I use kilometers because I figured the ENTIRE rest of the world uses this measurement, and I know this is an international site.  Just being courteous (the other Americans can do the conversion on line, like I did Embarrassed )

i'm psyched to hear the setlists for the impending tour with morse.  i need to recheck when it starts.  the boys must be busy practicing.  i can't imagine their rehearsals.  i can just hear roine saying...'okay, let's just run through Numbers one more time and call it a day'....everyone groans!

btw, felix doesn't seem to have a 'sound' like zoltan or portnoy.  he holds his own though.  the live footage i've seen he's a bit stiff, but that was early so i'm sure he and the band are more loosened up now.

as Nove said, long live the kings!

As you might have guessed, I put down Banks Of Eden as my biggest prog disappointment of the year, because for me it really was.  I didn't expect it would make the list though (though that album came in at number 6 biggest disappointment, so I wasn't alone apparently).

well, it totally makes sense.  outstanding prog these days is few and far between.  so many bands putting out such mediocre product.  marillion, tfk, sw...they all kind of stand out and are worth a listen.  in this context, a 'bad' tfk album is still a tfk album and fairly good at that.  so i see where you are coming from infandious.

good call dark shade!  300 pages of caffeine induced hysteria!!

oh, here's an issue...i was lurking over at the yahoo site to see if i could find any tidbits of info.  roine admits that the vinyl for BOE is a different mix than the CD.  more '70s' style.  what ever that means.  he says it's more dynamic.  ahh.  this makes me a bit frustrated.  i want a more dynamic record too, but not necessarily the vinyl.  thoughts?

I love them, too, especially their earlier albums.

I'm not as keen on the later stuff, but I still buy each new album as it comes out.

Eggs and Dogs is a great album.  Not as good as I Am (that would be difficult) but great in it's own right.  People who dislike I Am due to the pained vocals may well find this to be more to their liking, Michael Stolt does the honours pretty well.  As always with Tomas' solo albums it shows just how much of an influence he has on the TFK style, but being Tomas it's symphonic prog with some slices of hard rock guitar and a sizable twist of quirkiness.  The track Private Skies sounds like Tomas' personal tribute to Cinema Show - it's superb.  Whilst the epic doesn't really justify it's 21 mins or so there's only one poor track on there, American Standards which really is poor.

As Gus has mentioned it's really strange how Marcus sounds fantastic on this album, as if he's more inspired, something that was lacking in his TFK studio work.

Controversial I know, but I'd place this and I Am alongside several later TFK albums in terms of quality and I Am actually above TSONR for certain.

On the caffeine subject, I never drink coffee during the week.  I only treat myself to a couple of coffees every weekend, however it must be accompanied by a dash of creamWink.  I don't drink tea.  Generally being the healthy european I am I tend to drink water mainly, fresh orange juice in the mornings.  If I have a coke or pepsi it will be of the diet variety.

I agree on most of this.  Only difference is that I would rank "I AM" above just about every FK album since Unfold The Future, with TSoNE (not TSONR, by the way, which is a song not an album Wink ) being probably the only one I'd say is a close second.  Which isn't to say that any of those FK albums is not great, because most of them are.  Just that 'I AM" is better.  "You Are" is not to the level of "I AM", but is still a great album, comparable in quality to many FK albums.

thanks for the info on Eggs and Dogs.  gonna check that out.  what i've heard, i liked.  just has a more alternative rock feel rather than symphonic feel.  now, who is Marcus the drummer from Paradox?
i wish tomas would put something out.  wasn't' there supposed to be a second swedish family album?

Roj-what's your health regimen.  i'm trying to get into some kind of shape.  i've been getting into kettle bells.  kind of fun, but tough as hell.

I only have 2 Tomas albums. I AM is definitely worthy of an addition to any TFK fan's collection. I also have Sonic Boulevard, while it's not the best album ever, it's mostly instrumental work that reminds me of TFK, and some jazzy sections/solos, and is a nice listen once in a while. I AM outshines it by a lot though, and is up there with the best Flower Kings work.

yeah, i don't want to buy used CDs if i don't have to.  i want to support the band.  i may just end up downloading from iTunes or something.  IAM seems like the one i need to definitely have a hard copy of.  i owned sonic and pinup guru years ago, but they got lost in several moves.  i was really into the band back in the late 90s, but fell away until 2011.  i wish they could keep this stuff in print.  i really want cinematograaf too, but that's way out of print.  can't even find any used copies.   we have such an irrational system of commerce!

I wish I could get a hard copy of the first 2 Karmakanic albums, without having to strangle my wallet. It seems like "Who's The Boss..." is going out of print too, based on the price for it. What gives?

No, Who's the Boss is going out of print!  At least the Roine stuff seems to stay in print.

BTW, i listened to Sonic Blvd. again.  It's okay.  I AM is a little too much for me, though i can see you people like it.  definitely a symphonic album.  this singer is similar to the dude in karmakanic.

I've been trying to lose some weight for a while and it's going pretty well, lost 23lbs so far.  Prior to Christmas I was ready to audition for the michelin man.  At this rate I'll be able to fit into my Flower Kings t-shirt in about 3--4 weeks.  What better incentive could a guy have?

I've cut out all the crap such as chocolate and desserts.  A mix of eating less and plenty of swimming and brisk walking seems to be working.  I'm not prepared to give up a few beers every so often though Wink.
