Yeah, Roger's been saying that for a while, hasn't he lol? Last I recall, he said something like he had several good pieces written, but just couldn't figure out a concept to hold them together with?
I think they'd be more chance of a new Gilmour solo album than a full blown Pink Floyd album. Pretty sure he said he likes doing his thing without the whole bloated brand name/Pink Floyd thing dragging him down. His last solo album was very nice indeed! |

Yes, Broken China was Wright's last album, and I did find it very enjoyable. As a matter of fact, I remember reading about Gilmour stating that he found it to be a shame that Wright hadn't written the song "Breakthrough" when The Division Bell was recorded, for he would have wanted to use it in it. However, Gilmour did perform Breakthrough on his own semi-acoustic live DVD "David Gilmour on Concert", with Wright as a special guest on vocals... I must say I liked Gilmour's version much more... it's just the way the song would have sounded if it had been recorded by Pink Floyd, with Gilmour's guitar, and the sax, etc.
On the other hand, Roger is suposed to be close to releasing a solo album already (of course, he's been close to releasing a new album since early 2000's). I don't know anything about Gilmour wanting to record again, and I don't think he would like to trouble himself with doing so. |

Dellinger, I had no idea Rick was working on an album at that time! It would be wonderful for the other three to work on it together....and Rick's last solo album (was it called `Broken China', I really don't recall, and I'm not at home to check my shelf) was pretty good, a bit bland in parts, but overall very respectable!
Besides, I don't see Roger ever getting around to putting out another solo album. I'm sure there'll be another one from Dave at some point. |

What I would love to see released is Wright's last album, which I read he was working in before he passed away. Now, I have absolutley no idea in which state it was left, but if only he had recorded his keyboards, perhaps some vocals by himself, and little else... it could have been picked up by Gilmour and finished as the last Pink Floyd album. Imagine if even Waters would be involved in it. Of course, it is just a dream. |

I just bought the new issue of MOJO, with PF on the cover. Some nice pics, and tales of 1968-71.

I actually thought Roger looks a little these days like an aging Richard Gere (or did a couple of years back)lol!
At least the lucky bugger still has his hair, something I'm slowly losing a battle with! Definately Gilmour's voice has held up better than Roger's, even on `Amused To Death', as much as I love the album, his voice was pretty croaky in a few spots! It still had a ton of character, though. |

That is true. But Waters hasn't looked great for many years. Not that I care. It's just looks. BNot something I would comment on normally

All three of them look good for people in their 60s (Mason & Waters are fast approaching 70)

I would never agree that waters aged better. The man looks a wreck. No Gilmour has mellowed far better.

A couple of years ago I've been at a gig of Australian Pink Floyd. They opened with Learning To Fly and not only me, but a lot of people thought that they have played it better than Pink Floyd, both on stage and studio. I think the reason was the bassist who added a touch of Waters to that song making it a real Pink Floyd one.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Tom and others, this got me thinking...Would you have liked to see Waters involved in the `Division Bell', or working on a new studio album with Dave and Nick these days??
Not that I think in a million years it will happen! |

Absolutely adore The Division Bell - top shelf Floyd, in my books although I would've preferred Waters on bass to Pratt.........don't get me wrong, Pratt is a very good bassist, only his style is somewhat generic and lacks 'personality'.

Oh, I do love Division Bell a lot. I'm almost glad Waters left just so The Division Bell could be made. Indeed it's not the same as their 70's stuff, but it's still great. It is my 3rd or 4th favourite album by them, just behind "Wish you were Here" and "Animals"... I would actually have trouble choosing my favourite between Division Bell and Dark Side of the Moon. And I definitley like it better than The Wall. Oh well, if I may consider "Live at Pompeii" as a Pink Floyd album, I would put it before Division Bell too, I guess.
