Alright, so if you were stuck on a remote island with only one album from each of the following genres...

Prog.
Heavy Metal.
Hard Rock.
Grunge.
A.O.R.
Glam Metal.

What would they be?

Here's mine.
The Yes Album- Yes.
Blizzard Of Ozz- Ozzy Osbourne.
IIII- Led Zeppelin.
Ten- Pearl Jam.
Boston- Boston.
Van Halen II- Van Halen.

I wouldn't have anything considered Heavy Metal with me. Or Glam Metal.  Can a substitute a Jazz and a New Age album?

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Ahh, I see what you did there. You really do like Rush don't you?
You should have tried to get Grace Under Pressure or something under A.O.R. 'cause it is a little bit.

That's interesting, I never really saw B.O.C. as an A.O.R. band, more hard rock I suppose.

Love your sig by the way.

Thanks.  Honestly I was kind of at a loss trying to think of what "glam metal" (same as hair metal? I went with Van Halen just because you did), "hard rock" (not sure where this crosses the line into heavy metal) and "AOR" (album oriented rock? never really understood what that means) really mean.   So I just shot from the hip, really.

I always saw it as bands like Toto, Boston, Journey, R.E.O. Speedwagon, Winger, Bon Jovi...stuff like that.

Prog: King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Heavy Metal: Manilla Road - Crystal Logic
Hard Rock: never liked this term so I'm just gonna go with "rock'n'roll", in which case The Doors - Strange Days, if it's not 'hard' enough than any Hendrix.
Don't like grunge or glam metal at all, and never understood what the hell A.O.R. is because to me most good music is album oriented.

only when they are used incorrectly. Heavy metal is a specific style of metal music and Agalloch don't really have anything to do with it
