hi everybody :) !

I know PA for couple of years - it's an excellent resource !! -, but only registered yesterday :) I am from Kiev, but I live in Vienna since quite a time (20 years now - ok I'm not a little girl anymore XD, I'm 24 ), I am a university student struggling why I have not chosen music/ composition studies instead ... but I love my current studies anyway... so I'm living a life between many identities, you can say - I'm a very complex person , but on the outside friendly and optimistic :)

I discovered prog through my father, who listened to black market tape copies of YES and Pink Floyd and some other classic rock/prog bands in the Soviet Union - then, when I was 14/15 he gave me the "Classic Yes" album as a gift, and I have fallen in love since with prog - before, I was a huge QUEEN fan :)

I think I already gave you a hint :) - yes, I'm making music and I love it... I want to learn and absorb many things, to give something special to the world, but I think, it's still a long way - I sing, compose and play the piano in my band DARIA - feel free to check out :) http://www.facebook.com/dariarock

so ... it's nice to meet you all :)! thank you very much for reading and many greetings from cold Vienna, brrrr ^^

Welcome Daria, enjoy your stay!

I hope you like those early 70's Queen albums too! Those were the ones that first got me headed in the direction of prog!

Will have to look into your band, take care!

Yep, those early run of Queen 1/Queen 2/Sheer Heart Attack, etc are all very special to me, even though I really don't listen to them like I used to. They do mean a lot to me, though!

Wow, you weren't kidding about it being cold, all those snowy pictures on your band page lol! It's summer down here, so fans and air-conditioners are working overtime!

By the way, I liked that cool band/collage picture of you all, looks very striking and 70's, especially the black and white version!

Good luck with your music, keep us updated!

here is a demo version of one of my band's songs (rather classic rock , but we also have proggy things in our channel) :) I thought I 'd post it directly, because facebook is a bit confusing (with all the different links) :-O

Cool, so you were probably a big Queen fan too then :)?
Yes, there was a whole lot of snow in Vienna XD - all the bigger dust bins were looking like mushrooms because of the snow on their top lol
Thank you very much again and sending you a bit of "freshness" - maybe it'll work out ^^:D ok, I will keep you informed :)!

Daria, Queen was the VERY first band I ever got into! Of course, I knew all the `greatest hits' of the band, but by chance a friend had records of Queen 1, Queen 2, Night at the Opera, etc, and when I listended to them, I had never heard such fascinating and involving `pop' music, it felt so daring and unique! Stuff like `Great King Rat', `Ogre Battle' etc blew me away!

That of course lead to Pink Floyd, to Genesis, etc, and so Queen really got things rolling for me!

Like I mentioned, I don't listen to them nearly as much these days, but I've repurchased all the remastered CD's over the years, and the band really means so much to me!

I should chime in and say that Queen are still one of my all time favorite bands as well. "It's Late" is a really amazing, underrated song.

Welcome Daria.
From Ukraine, you might be aware of the artist Roksana (Vikaluk). 'Barwy' was recorded live in Poland (my birth country) and is some nice ethereal heavenly folk music

A little something to bring tears to the eyes of any Queen fans. With a slight possibility of bleeding ears to boot.
