Diamond Dog, there is no way to get to Dayvenkirq, he's a Crimson loyalist and a supreme fanboy who doesn't allow others to have an opinion on his favorite band

Nothing so-called Crimson that followed was the real thing at all. Interesting, quirky, idiosyncratic - no doubt, but way off track from where it could and should have been headed. |
Glad they didn't do that then, seeing i rank Court second last in their classic period - only behind Poseidon.

That's only one part of YOUR Tosh, and still not very relevant; if it hadn't been for ITCOTCK, there wouldn't even be a genre to discuss. I like Fripp, I like Cobain, but these are sideshows compared to the influence of that first album. Red is NOT influential in the same way at all. That's like saying ELO is more relevant than the Beatles. Offshoots, that's all. Wake up to the bigger picture. |
Ah, so you come down now to "still not very relevant" from claiming a statement that "ITCOTCK is their only relevant statement to be true". So this is the point we both were trying to drill into your head. Be a little less obsessed with your personal dogma next time and attempt to READ before jumping to pronounce the ultimate truth.
And coming back to Red, it influenced a much wider sphere of music than ITCOTCK which only influenced symph prog. So with that said, the claim that there wouldn't have been prog without ITCOTCK is in itself a dubious one seeing as at least two bold Barrett-Floyd albums predate it. There just wouldn't have been one kind of prog and in the same way, the Wetton-era brought a whole set of tones that many heavy rock bands picked up and a bold approach of marrying composition and improvisation that was quite unprecedented in prog rock of that time. I think you do not appreciate that the bigger picture is much bigger than just one kind of prog so the Beatles-ELO parallel doesn't work here. It is also true that, yes, Beatles did not invent rock, they just popularised it and were only one of the bands to do so.

1) Apparently you don't know the difference between argumentation and prohibition.
2) Since it happens that you get "brain farts" or whatever, then maybe you shouldn't converse with anyone on the forum at all.
3) Trying to rub me into the dirt is never a... ah, look who the f$&k I'm talking to.

1) Again, you don't seem to know the difference between argumentation and prohibition.
2) I think you are having a brain fart right now since I'm "not making sense".

Er, he meant that if he disagrees with a negative viewpoint of KC it doesn't necessarily imply that he doesn't want to allow anybody to have a poor opinion of them. You have repeatedly accused him of suppressing opinions of others. Kid, this is not a metal forum and there are no bullies here so don't bash a strawman. Lay off that confrontational attitude first, attempt to be less dogmatic and more open minded in conversation.

^ For the past several hours I thought it wasn't about KC at all, but this guy just kept bringing it up. What does he want us to do, give up on the band? I thought we were zeroing in on his attitude problem lately, but I was downright wrong. I was just feeling myself in a kind of a Frippian mode, if you will. What if I feel like playing some piano big time and use the avatar of John Tout? What's gonna be next? He is going to mock Renaissance? I'm feeling really persecuted right now.

He is doing exactly that , Diamond Dog is bringing about what he thinks about Dayvenkirq's favorite band and he is simply disagreeing and not trying to see other people's perspectives

Er, if you start a comment claiming to post the truth, you don't really have much respect for other's opinions in the first place. You are looking to the whole thing through your "this website is a KC fanboy base" filters. If so, I'd recommend you don't participate at all in discussions until you can get rid of that attitude. You are not going cure anyone of KC fanboy-ism if that is your mission, because there's nothing to cure.

And what exactly entitles you to say that? Who the bloody hell are you to do so? You have no right to interfere or pronounce judgment on anybody's taste. I don't think this is the first time I have told you that.

You shall not presume what is good for my own sake and what is not. You can recommend music to others but cannot tell them to think whether what they are listening to is good. For the last time, this is not a metal forum. This kind of "mate, I'll tell you what's good music" way of speaking will come off as very rude here because people on this forum are individuals and their individuality is respected. It is not a kinship or community like Metalheads Inc. With that, I have to go.
