Not really my glass of chianti, but some may like it. (1993)

I think I'll give this a listen, Pierre....going by the description on his Archives bio page, the main guy Nik Comoglio sounds pretty talented.

"The second - and final - album of the group Syndone, Inca is definitely the one which comes closest to the acoustics and the progressive rock composition style of the 1970's. Inca isn't a concept album like Spleen, but brings independent, seemingly unrelated pieces together. The only unifying element is a more or less deliberate celebration of the indigenous South American civilization, its rituals and its holocaust.

On Inca, keyboardist Edo Rogani (ex- Empire) joins the original trio of Syndone. Brought in as support during live performances, he's become an integral part of the group and bring in sound characteristic dual keyboards attacks. Hammond, Moog and other keyboards built ELP - like atmosphere with slight jazzy arrangements, not-too-complex compositions and often bombastic vocals."

Sounds a bit like that Par Lindh Project from Sweden to me?

I've seen the latest CD `La Bella E La Bestia' around, and I looked at the cover and thought it was a metal album?!

Anyone know if it's any good?

Pierre, I found a few tracks from the most recent Syndone album....doesn't do a lot for me. It's all very nicely played, lots of variety, but I find the vocals just a little too draining. Sounds like the singer is frequently going for that early 70's Queen/Freddie Mercury sound with even a bit of that guy from Muse.

Michael, I don't hear too much Mercury or the horrible Muse guy. The italian language helps, i think.  As you say " very nicely played" but ... something is missing.

Yep, some of the vocals are lovely, other bits get a bit too much. I think it seems a little...going though the motions, not a lot of genuine emotion? Who knows, this is just one track, the rest of the album could be amazing!

Pierre, shame it's not sung in Italian, because it sounds TOO much like Ian Anderson/Tull! Beautifully played, though!

Sadly, Tull is one of the few prog bands I don't have much love for. I don't really relate to the words, and I find Anderson's voice tiring very quickly. I did just buy a 5 disc box set for $16 of five of their 70's albums, so I think this will be my last attempt at liking them. So far `A Passion Play' works best for me, many more instrumental sections on that one.

Now, something like an instrumental version of the track you played above would be perfect, Pierre, or something sung in Italian! Any suggestions?!

If haven't yet heard it Michael, then you should give Delirium's lll a shotThumbs Up I wrote my first review with that one, and even if I state that they don't sound anything like Jethro Tull, the combo of bittersweet Italian vocals, flute and some beautifully orchestrated sections, you're almost certain to come across something to your liking.

Dave, freaking LOVE that Delirium 3, man I dig that guy's raspy voice! Love the heavy music, dark dirty sax, angry flute, etc. Yeah, one I think of straight away to recommend to newies!

It's a bit of a duck favourite too, from what I recall!

Good man!Cool
And yes, the watery fowl also digs this album like there was no tomorrow.

Oh, before I go - and in thread with what you were asking for:

Procession: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If5QZnzLijE (This one is pretty heavy as well, but it's infused with some breathtaking folky bits)

^ Recommending Delirium III in the Italian Prog appreciation den is like asking a Rush fan if he like Moving Pictures. LOL

I know, Sagi, kind of really beating a dead horse here!

Who knows, maybe some newie will hear it and it will blow their minds?!

Uh oh, I DO have several Rush albums, but I've never heard `Moving Pictures'....time for me to go hang my head in shame!

Sagi, only because I'm fairly new to Rush! I've got `2112', `Hemispheres', `A Farewell To Kings' and `Permanesnt Waves', so I guess if I kept going in order `Moving Pictures' would have been next in line!

To be honest, I feel I only know the first two really well, so I'm keeping at it!

Oh no, EVIL DUCK EYES!

^ Go slow my friend, you have a lot to discover.

Talking about Rush makes me want to post a track but I'm afraid I'll get banned.
