Oh, great suggestion, Pierre!! I rank that `Festa Mobile' one alongside E.A.Poe, L'uovo di Colombo and the De De Lind one, I got them all at pretty much the same time, all amazing albums!!

^^^^ Jim, that drummer guy is a classic.  He is so into it...Hug

^^^^^ Michael, I must have felt your good vibrations when you were listening to it, not sure why else I picked QVL as my next "new" RPI to listen to with so many to choose from.  Great minds think alike...Tongue

I can't wait to try their first album after seeing the rest of the gangs response!

If I recall, Picchio dal Pazzo are essentially an RPI/Canterbury styled band, right Pierre?

I don't have any of their albums, but I seem to think I've read about them referred to in such a way?

Michael, the first album is pure Canterbury, with a strong Wyatt influence. This one is less famous but really interresting. I consider Camere Zimmer Rooms  like the last album of the seventies RPI. Really. Listen to the guitars. We're clearly in the eighties, but in a good way : the way of the Talking heads, Laurie anderson and many others bands from the beginning of the eighties.
Prog is dead. Long live prog !

I agree Sagi. The more you listen to it, the more it sounds mysterious. Great stuff.

Recent mention was made of Procession--not nearly enough is made of this band! Like QVL, you'll find those who favor the first and the second, equally passionately. I love both their albums, but particularly their first. Their singer, Gianfranco Gaza, I rank among the very best vocalists ever. He also participated on Arti e Mestieri's second album, though he was very underutilized. After Gaza died tragically young, the band later got together and did a nice rerecording of some of their classic material as well as a couple new tracks, called Esplorare.

Here are a couple samples from each of their first two albums:

Un Mondo di Liberta' from the first s/t album

Uomini di Vento from the second album, Fiaba
"I have seen the broken sky turn blue."

Aha!! Hellogoodbye I just listened to your funny Morricone link, I love silly noises (I love Zappa and Beatles), however this one I still need more convincing Smile I laughed when I heard it however I did lose focus Shocked, this I never heard before thank you! Hug
Some of my favorite composers are Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota (Godfather) and Giorgio Moroder who made the original score for Scarface movie sound track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKv1_GfxFZY too! Big smile I call it the banana boat song.

Back to topic (before I get banned from this forum hihihi) here's a softer and beautiful Italian Prog track from the seventies:   Rare Italian Prog - Le Ore di Punta - L'Abisso (1972) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=droZZcrCBQA&feature=player_embedded it's a bit short, I replayed it 4 times in a row now Approve

I see you found your way into the den...nice bunch in here Approve.  From your posts, it looks like you are familiar with the RPI world, I am still getting my feet wet (it helps to remove socks first) in this genre, but love it!

The Le Ore di Punta song had such a sad, hauting feel to it, nice to hear those vinyl pops and cracks again....very nice!

If you have not heard of Festa Mobile before, hellogoodbye's post above has a cool track to hear.  Also Todd's posts of Procession are excellent too.

Just before I forget, Kati, I'd like to mention the Nino Rota's Casanova. Prog somewhere and one of the most haunted music that exists :

AEP(Jim)!

Here's a track off an album you may want to consider later on, it's a much darker and rougher sounding RPI title, but one of my favourites:

Biglietto Per L'inferno - S/T

Here's the final track:
