Sadly Mr Thunderbirds, Gerry Anderson passed away yesterday midday.

I was always a huge fan of his British TV shows especially Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Stingray, and UFO. Also adored Space 1999, Capt Scarlet CGI.

Tears of sadness.

In hnour of him I am watching his shows today and changing my UFO avatar to his face in memory.

A tribute to Gerry Anderson by ACR

I only just heard he died and he meant so much to me.

Gerry Anderson

Fanderson webpage dedication above.

Without his genius vision there would be no Thunderbirds, a show that has endured even to present day. He was Film and Television producer of many other TV shows that are beloved throughout the world.

Without his passion and vision there would be no UFO, my all time favourite 70s scifi TV show, and no Space 1999, that captured my imagination when I was a teenager. His visions are legendary, the amazing supermarionation TV shows will never be forgotten.

Here are his TV shows in chronological order

THe Adventures of Twizzle (1957-58)

I used to love watching re-runs of Thunderbirds and Stingray as a kid.  About a year ago, I grabbed the DVD box set of Secret Service for cheap.  Supermarionation!!!

Also RIP Dolores Mantez

IUFO actress Dolores Mantez has passed away following a short illness last month

She was well known as one of the purple haired UFO girls.

Photo: I was deeply saddened to read that UFO actress Dolores Mantez has passed away following a short illness...as friends will know she was well known as one of the purple haired UFO girls which was filmed (in part) at MGM Borehamwood. The obituary in the Telegraph states that she died at the end of November...RIP Dolores.......

Sorry, man, I didn't even notice this thread. I saw you going all Gerry Anderson on us in another thread, and I've just found out why. I've just checked out a few minutes ago the IMDb.com page on him. Just a single day after Xmas - that just sucks.

Condolences to his family and friends.
