1) Please, stop asking me whether or not I've heard a KC album. I've spent a couple of years listening to them. Why do you think I have Fripp as my avatar? Just to show everyone that I heard the guy and I love him and the band (without actually meaning that)? Has it ever occurred to you that it would be a very pretentious thing to do on my part? Why do you think I'd do that? Why are you questioning my motives?
2) I've never heard of Tyga, and right now I don't care who that is.
3) You know that you can still download KC and Fripp's albums, right?
Cuz you like the band that's why but u fail to see that they do tend to repeat the same passages time and time again. I'm sorry if I'm getting to personally I don't want that I wanna talk Prog
2) Please don't listen to Tyga you will feel stupid like I have.
3) I'll try to download but I prefer the actual recording with the cover art and lyrics nothing beats that
seriously I'm sorry truly sorry for Fripp's retirement

^ I do remember them copying a part from "The Court of the Crimson King" (the track, naturally) and pasting it into "The Devil's Triangle". OK, so, maybe there was a time or two when they copied themselves. So what? What does that prove? What artist does not repeat himself (in one way or another)? What band does not repeat itself (in one way or another)?

I think that that is a fine example at going back to an earlier recording, actually quite interesting but nothing original
I think your missing the point about repetition

Even if you don't like Robert Fripp, you have to respect his importance in the prog scene--even today!!
If anything, underrated because he really built the foundation of prog. Even if I enjoy Genesis immensely more, KC should be ranked as the highest band on this site for their experimentalism.
70's Genesis, 70's Yes can't compare with the pure experimental sound of each individual album by KC, thanks to Fripp.
Thus, Fripp deserves all the credit he gets on this site.

Are you talking about Robert Fripp?
Please, he's anything except a a nice human, the guy is a jerk, arrogant, offensive and agressive with the fans who pay his way of life.
He's good that's undeniable, I don't believe he's as good as he considers himself, but it's only my opinion..

Ivan, I remmember when you said that you are a big The Who fan.
Mr Pete Townshend was / is nothing better with The Who fans.
The fact that the both revolutionary English guitarists and composers were (especialy Mr Townshend) jerk , arrogant and agressive with the fans, (what is a collateral damage of their implacability, imo) - is just a sad detail of their lifes, but it have just nothing in common with the great music they made because you can't hear in their amazing music nothing of their traditionaly bad relations with the (hardcore) fan base.

its quite complex actually what im talking about because the crims has hardly ever been like that ,following the verse-chorus-verse pattern, there's just so much going on, but for that particular song yes and my ears and brain just wont allow too much repetition and in the case of Lizard I like the Jon Anderson "Prince Rupert Awakes" part very much ITS PERFECTLY EXECUTED but "The Battle of Glass Tears" doesn't do anything for me its saxes on top of saxes and more saxes and it all sounds too repetitve and in the case of "The Talking Drum" it just deosn't do anything for me it has violins on top of annoying and repetitive passages and for Red the guitar repeats itself over and over

I'm going to take a risk on disagreeing with you on that last part. I think being "jerky" has a lot to do with an attitude towards music, though I'm afraid my explanation is going to be a bit too complex and over your head about that.

Saxes on top of saxes? I think you mean 'Bolero - The Peacock's Tale' and it's not only saxes, you got cornet, oboe and maybe more, I can't recall now. Anyway that part is one of my favorite music pieces.

Then I think you will never dig this band no matter how hard you try. It can be inferred from your reflections on their music that they have an audience that can withstand repetition and not all of them are going to be fans of Yes or Genesis.

I get your point and I agreed with that - anyway, the greatest artists in the history were almost all jerks - but that fall in the very very old, very complex and endless debates about a great artist's witless personality and his/her superb art.

I wonder how is it your brain allows the repetition in Heart of the Sunrise, Close to the Edge, Firth of the fifth, La Villa Strangiato, Jacob's Ladder to name but a few tracks? Please, reinforcement is a widely used device and is great to build momentum/tension.
I'll make it simple for you: the thing with KC is not much of their music is accessible nor is its direction immediately evident. It tends to be twisted and weird, especially in comparison to Yes/Genesis/Rush. I have been a fan of those three bands for longer than KC so I do know what I am talking about there. Now, you are going to have a hard time convincing a lot of people on this board that it's a bad thing for music to be twisted and weird. Perhaps if you were not in a hurry to form opinions about the music you listen to (and opinions about people who like music that you don't like), you'd find it easier to appreciate not only KC but lot many other bands.

Pete was aggressive because of his Mod image, but lately he's a nice guy, I saw him in a USA airport, luckily I had a Who's Next copy in my bag, took it out and he kindly signed it, he even said that Roger was around and if I waited, he could sign it, but my plane left before Roger came.
Fripp...Well, I saw him make a scandal to a poor kid because he took a photo in the concert.
Ask Greg lake about him
Threefates wrote:
Actually its only partially true. They weren't at a concert.. this happened after the entire original lineup was at Tower Records doing a signing when the "Epitaph" compilation was released. In the limo on the way back to the hotel Greg asked Fripp what he thought about the original KC doing a reunion show. He did not ask to rejoin KC, but wanted to get the original members together for a show. Fripp said something rude as usual.. something like "I'm not going back there" and Greg had the limo stop and he asked Fripp to get out... It wasn't because Fripp didn't want to do it, but because he was rude in his response.
Threefates was always well informed aboput Greg.
Now, about non existing KC MP3 in Prog sites, I believe he's entitled to allow MP3 in any site or not, I believe he's wrong, but hey...It's his property.

I agreed! this song and video from 1979/80 was that last thing what made (hardcore) The Who fans very sad & dissapointed, including Mr Daltrey who refused to sing it as The Who song
'Operation ore' wouldn't be mentioned, because it was in early 00s
