Palin may be smarter than the average person, but for a politician she's remarkably homespun, ignorant, gaff-prone, embarrassing, and a downright yokel. And that's putting it mildly.

Can't say anything about dtguitarfan.

No news is objective. The Daily Show is generally a satire program, but obviously has a leftist bias. And Stewart has almost always (as far as I know) referred to it as a comedy show and not real news.

Those two are proven facts: she lost, and then she quit.

I'm not sure she's dumb. Not agreeing with Dtguitarfan isn't necessarily proof of idiocy; not agreeing with all the dogma of the left isn't necessarily a sign of stupidity.

I think we can add opportunist to the proven facts though.

You gotta admit. She's smart to be making all that money, albeit on broken causes, but it's not a sign that she's stupid.

I have never agreed with the stupid accusation. She may not be too well-read, which in some circles is a crime, but that doesn't mean she's stupid. She might probably be smarter (not more "intellectual" though) that some illustrious opponents here.

Anyway, this discussion about Palin serves no purpose. She's politically defunct, I'd say.

I can't vouch for DTguitarfan, IDK him (though his insane levels of DT fanboyism, even for PA, are a bad signTongue) but Palin is most certainly not smart. Slice it and analyze smart how you want...she's just not

Dtguitarfan, I know you mean well, but you are giving too much attention to demonstrating your penance from once having been a republican by only focusing in republicans instead of developing your own ideas which I'm sure would be more entertaining to read than your current trend of posting links ad nauseaum. Come on, don't turn into another one who turns politics into a sports competition with two sides. Because after that, whichever "side" you have chosen will be able to sell you utter bullsh*t and you will believe it and defend it. Grow past that.

You like DT. You have good things already going for you.

The GOP has been imploding for years, and they can thank only themselves.
Things got so bad under Wubya the nation gave Democrats super majorities, for the first time in decades!
They've had no idea what they are doing, really are out of touch with the mainstream America (they should be happy Kerry ran and not someone with humanity) and have no good candidates. McCain? Romney??
Santorum, Palin, Bachmann???  Pathetic.

Anyway, don't be fooled, the Dems may have some care for the whole population but they have their own rich ass kissing pedestal and don't mind using it!

Now its a choice between the right of center Rockefeller Democrat Party vs the right wing Republican party.

Anyone seen the movie "Inside Job"?  Just watched it today.  Wow.  I had seen a review saying it was "Pro-Obama Propaganda", and that's a very curious statement, since the film actually concludes that Obama is doing nothing to solve the problem it outlines, but actually re-hired some of the people who caused it.... Wink

Ok, spoiler - I know why that review said that now because I've looked up some things that I suspected, but I hope that intrigues some right-winger.

The whole time I was watching it, I kept thinking "money is the root of all evil."

It is so stupid that fascism is called the absolute extreme right, yet also parties who want the almost total elimination of government, which is the absolute opposite of fascism.

The "right" doesn't exist. Unlike the left, which more or less has some common elements, what is called the "right" is a total mix of completely different (and sometimes exclusive, like libertarianism and fascism) ideologies.

(Well, fascism is really a leftist type of government anyway...)

Different kinds of right. I'm mostly talking about simple economics here. Also consider that the French revolution politics have flipped sides in modern times.

I.e. the left wing back then was those promoting laissez-faire policies.

Any fan of history should know that Fascism...ta da: Grew from socialism, and thought free market democracy was old and stupid and weak. Fascism was collectivist, grouping various peoples into government run 'corporations' and tried to collectivize ALL of society into one big, efficient, run group. Really scary when you really think about it.

The opposite of Communism would be Pinochet, a dictator dedicated to free markets, so much so he'd kill you (ironic eh?)

Indeed dtguitarfan, Obama hasn't done much at all, and has re-hired alot of the same people. Also remember the original bailouts and all happened under Wubya, as well as that stimulus. Maybe we aren't so different you and I!

I don't think collectivism is a bad idea, it's just when it's taken to an extreme it becomes fascistic.

Of course one could argue any collectivist society is destined to go too far, due to its nature.
Well, we'll never see Fascism again but we're heading to where the whole world is gunna be one big corporatist state I think. But maybe I've just been reading too many political things latelyLOL
