Another band that has been lost in the backwaters of the seemingly little-visited 'Get The Word Out' forum: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=90786

TheRoom (yes - it's spelt as one word) are a melodic rock band hailing from the Southeast of England. Formed in 2010 the band finalised their line up in 2011 before starting work on their debut album. Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson from progressive rock band Grey Lady Down were joined by Andy Rowe, Andrew Rae and Steve Checkley.
The five band members brought together a broad range of musical influences which has helped form TheRoom's distinctive style. Smart songs with great melodies are the essence of the band's material.
Four highly successful launch shows were played in October 2011 to coincide with the release of the promotional single 'A Casual Believer' / 'A Multitude of Angels'. Audience reaction was superb and the band was thrilled with the response.
The debut album from the band, called 'Open Fire', was released on Melodic Revolution Records on December 11th 2012.

Brian Dade interviewed the band on AiiRadio.net on 25th November as mentioned in the first thread, playing all tracks from the new album in full. The archive was available for about a week, but sadly is now deleted, and all we have left to listen to at the moment are just a couple of tracks (ie. the promotional single).

1. Flesh and bone  (5:10)
2. A casual believer (5:40
3. 16 Tonnes (6:51)

5. A multitude of angels (6:07)
6. In the shadows (9:32
7. Behind the silence (4:05)
8. The spark (7:10)
9. ICU (6:04)

Vocals: Martin Wilson
Guitar: Steve Anderson
Keys: Steve Checkley
Bass: Andy Rowe
Drums: Andrew Rae

This is 'melodic rock with a prog twist', but I think there is just about enough here to merit an evaluation in Crossover.

Edit: Great album actually. Previously suggested for Neo:

... but having listened to the full album, perhaps Crossover is a better fit. Will have another listen but am pretty sure we can find a place for them on the site.

LOL!! - I posted twice in that thread, and can't even remember it...I'm gettin' old!

Well done too for finding the bandcamp link - in the old days I would have turned that up for myself...I'm definitely losing my touch!  Embarrassed

Even so David - you're looking remarkably saucy and young in that new avatar of yours. Did you by any chance shave?

Not only a shave - a full facelift! It improved my looks no end, but seems to have had a negative impact on my brain. Guess I'll have to get THAT transplanted next! LOL

LOL
Please, leave your brain as it is. We happen to dig it big time around here.

OMG!!!  This seems to have been rejected a day or two before I joined the team, so it never showed in our 'new' section of the chart, and I forgot to check up on the suggestion tbf. Obviously my vote would be a 'yes', but whether that makes any difference now I really don't know. It will be a shame if a rejection based on just two votes from a five-man team is upheld though.

Well, I wasn't exactly sacked, but I guess my voting was judged as being a little on the lenient side. LOL

Anyhow, TheRoom were duly added to the site, and rightly so. Embarrassed They have now announced a new drummer, namely Uxbridge-based Chris York: http://mrrmusic.com/new-drummer-announced-for-the-room/:

"Uxbridge based Chris York is today unveiled as the new drummer for UK crossover progressive rock band The Room following the forced retirement of Andrew Rae through the onset of tinnitus.

York brings over 30 years of live and studio experience to the band as they start work on the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Open Fire’.

“I am thrilled to have been asked to join The Room” said York “We have played together a number of times now and it has been so easy to fit in. I love the album and playing the tracks live is going to be really exciting”.

Vocalist Martin Wilson commented “it was a really difficult moment for the band when Andrew left. However we are absolutely delighted that Chris has agreed to join us on the next part of our journey. We loved Chris’s sense of humour; his take on our material and of course his excellence behind the kit.”
