Anthem is the one I don't know the story behind it either (aside from she don't like guvment) so maybe that'll be somewhere to start.
I'm more intrigued to start "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin (WTF). It's one of the earliest dystopian novels and was supposedly a major influence on 1984 and Rand and dystopia lit in general. |

I love Anthem. The Road to Serfdom is good but Hayek was not a terrific writer, his ideas clearly surpassing the excitement one feels at reading them. It feels like a long lecture. A good one though.

Definitely. I usually recommend Capitalism and Freedom to people looking to get started in libertarianism because it is so clearly written and such an easy read. Hayek ids much tougher to get through, but certainly worth it. |

I'm such a nerd though I'd enjoy that. It's already shipped from Amazon anyway so too late!
Edit: I already read Capitalism and Freedom, it was indeed my stepping stone. Friedman was actually my single biggest influence. Edited by JJLehto - December 11 2012 at 20:08 |

Got the point of Anthem after about a page but it just kept going, and going, and going. Seriously, just listen to Rush instead. It's not as though she was any friend of libertarians, anyway. Her hatred of "savages" (American Indians) and "primitives" (Arabs), desire to see Israel get rid of the primitives, the general aggressiveness of objectivists (believe most support the use of force in Iran), and all these statements make her and objectivism, in general, sh*tty. |

Her prose was wooden, and her sex scenes weren't even interesting to a high school student. |

Yikes, I know she had some....interesting beliefs but didn't know there were these neo con like tendencies
Bad sex scenes eh? Well hell that just is a deal breaker obviously Honestly, I already felt like the time passed and I have so many other books, even non political, so I didn't see reading her any time soon. Esp since atlas shrugged is 1000+?? |

lol you wish
When I heard she was married I died a little bit. We had the inside scoop when Grant came to my campus because basically his flight was delayed or some sh*t and he was killing time near the airport There were bloopers shown of inappropriate convos at least < / 3 |

Oh man, I've been staring at that middle picture in MoM's sig for months wondering who it was. I never recognized her as Kari Byron.
