Arena - The Seventh Degree of Separation
How did you enjoy the Arena album? A bit of a different take I'd say from their usual style. Added a bit more of a crossover prog element to their sound. The new vocalist, Paul Manzi really holds his own. The Great escape is my favourite track. :) |
After being initially VERY disappointed with it, I've found after several listens it really comes together well! So it's a bit more straightforward, but Nolan tastefully places nice subtle and restrained keyboards all over it, and the new singer is pretty good! Always makes me laugh, that spoken word into where at the end he bellows `CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME?!' reminds me so much of Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden lol! Overall, really great songwriting, catchy melodies - very happy with it! Glad I didn't just dismiss it on my first listen.
|
It's a different take for sure. Glad your appreciating it. And yes it did take a few listens for me as well. :)
