Their third album, "Vietato ai Minori di 18 anni" is usually considered their best. It's more complex and sophisticated than DNA, so it usually registers a bit higher on the prog scale than DNA. Their first s/t album is not as good as those two. Glad you like the Rustichelli e Bordini! Great stuff. If you like that keyboardy side of RPI, you could also try L'Uovo di Colombo and Triade (though without the gritty "vocals").

Oh, way ahead of you there Todd! You've just made my day! BOTH the Triade and Colombo albums are firm favourites of mine, I listen to them all the time!! I bought vinyl reissues of them a few years back, and I've loved them ever since. Both terrific `one-and-done' bands who put out a single great album. The instrumental stuff on the first side of the Triade is great, but the vocal stuff on the B-side might be even better!! |

Todd and Michael, I personnaly prefer the Jumbo 's Vietato ai Minori di 18 anni. These 34 seconds of the second song of the album are awesome :

Yes! Go Palepoli ! I love that PFM album too, I actually prefer it over their debut or third, all of which are ace really, but something about that second album goes beyond the 1st and 3rd. It's in my top 5 RPI albums - though I don't own as many as I like to of course hahahaha Edited by dreadpirateroberts - November 17 2012 at 08:01 |

I'm so glad you mentioned Jumbo, definitely one of my favorite Italian bands. I belong to the camp who thinks their third album is better, like Todd said it's more complex and progressive and IMO more experimental. I find the vocals on that one to be a little easier overall than those on DNA, so Michael you might want to check it out first, it might appeal to you more. Both Rustichelli e Bordini and Triade haven't clicked with me just yet. I'll have to give them another try, I remember liking the first track from ReB but not the rest. |

Why to choose a camp and do not rather embrace the entire Jumbo ?

The typical case of a "non complex" progressive rock, but from which comes a bunch of emotions and ideas.

Wonderful indeed Pierre, a very under-appreciated title. I love it. Paul, I agree about DNA, fantastic |
