That I am not. My favorite work with a prominent viola part if Bach's 6th Brandenburg concerto. Going back, I probably have heard a song by that band but I don't even know it is theirs. I'm totally ignorant with the V.U. ![]() There's a lot of bands already in PA the mention of which should be a ban-worthy offense anyway.

That should be, predictably, corporate greed hurts the working class and raises the cost of living. ![]() If you read the article carefully, the owner has no intention of being held to the ACA, as he is going to reduce most of his employees' hours below 30 anyway. So what's the surcharge for? Hmmmmm? To line his freaking pocket, that's what for. Because he can and the ACA provides an excuse for his greed. Edited by The Doctor - November 15 2012 at 19:13 |

Hi Jim Romneycare hasn't noticeably affected ours here in MA, and we continue to be one of the leading states in public health indicators. But the difference now is that everybody is insured, there are virtually no medical related personal bankruptcies and people are getting less of their care in the ER, which is where they often go if they are underinsured. It also means that, with emphasis on preventive care, legitimate visits to the ER may be reduced because people never get to the stage of needing acute care.

That makes no economic sense. If he could make more money in the absence of the ACA by adding a surcharge, why would he not have done so already? Whether or not he has an "excuse" in the form of the ACA is irrelevant. The surcharge only makes sense if his costs are rising or if consumers are becoming less sensitive to price changes. I don't see why the latter should happen, so I assume it is the former. In that case he will probably make less money with the surcharge post-ACA then he would have without the surcharge pre-ACA. Otherwise his behavior makes no sense. |

Also, this idea you have that corporations making money is a bad thing is ridiculous. When a company makes just enough to break even you know what you have? A mom and pop store with two employees that never grows and never changes. When companies make profits, they expand, they improve, they sell more goods, which is good for customers, they hire more workers, which is good for labor, and they generally make the world a better place. Thank god Henry Ford and Edison were greedy and wanted to make as much money as possible or we wouldn't have cars and lightbulbs today.

Hostess employees, by striking to demand more money, have protested
their way right out of a job: all 18,500 of them. Way to go unions! Not
only will we have no more delicious Twinkies and Ho Hos, we will have
even more out of work Americans!
I also find this interesting. Here's a graph of the Dow Jones Industrial Average over the last three moths. That last peak occurred on November 6th. Look what has happened since. ![]() |

Not that I'm seeking to validate Obama, but speculators reacting irrationally to a president or event to no degree means that that person should be doing what they are or that the event is not a good thing. The last thing I want is for these a****les to dictate what measures we can and cannot take, politically.

This is just too funny to pass up on sharing: "You might say that a guy who doesn't have an actual job, yet pulls in $20 million a year on which he pays 14% in federal income taxes because of how the tax system is so skewed in his favor perhaps should not be talking so contemptuously about the government giving people gifts." http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/15/opinion/waldman-romney-comments/index.html |

Finally some good news:
Industry giants are threatening to swallow up America's carefully regulated alcohol industry, and remake America in the image of booze-soaked Britain. Despite the fact that the article mistakes the fine English beer Boddingtons for Irish (thereby losing all credibility), we can all look forward to lower prices and more availability! I'll drink to that! |
