One last question about when he died: before 1990?
He say nothing is quite what it seems;
I say nothing is nothing

He forgot to make that hint "invisible". The other hints so far are "Ram" and "Does not change".

@refugee: Yes, he died before 1990.
@Undercover Man: Yes, he was a race-driver for a while. Yet this is not the source of his fame. This bloke was multi-talented.

I used the wrong colour code to make the hint truly "invisible".

Your hints lead me to Wales, Russia and Scotland. Confused

Did he come from one of those countries?

No, not from one of those countries.

Edit: After this post, the hints will be less cryptic.

Damn! Without checking all your hints, I thought it might have been Enzo Ferrari.

Edit: I didn’t check your last hint before I posted. I change my question to French?

Clap That's him! I give the explanations - and a correction - to the hints:

1. The animal appearing most often on the labels of Ch. Mouton-Rothschild.
2. He had been a Grand Prix-racer for a short while.
3. Premier ne puis, second ne daigne, Mouton ne change: the motto of Ch. Mouton-Rothschild.
4. A painting by Wassily Kandinsky (d. 1944) was used for the 1971 label; Charles, Prince of Wales, designed the 2004 label.
5. Philippe descended from Nathan Mayer Rothschild, the third son of Mayer Amschel (not the fourth, he was the 4th child - apologies), he came from France; the French branch was founded by Mayer's fifth son, Jacob "James"Mayer.
6. Refers to the 1977 label - the year in which Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 25 years.
7. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon + 3% Cabernet Franc + 14% Merlot = Ch. Mouton-Rothschild.
8. 1973 was Philippe's 51st vintage. In this year his wine became 1er Grand Cru Classé, the only modification in the 1855 Bordeaux wines classification. Apparently the Comte de Lur-Saluces, owner of Ch. d'Yquem, envied him.

Interesting person – and no giveaways in your hints! Clap I see that I was right in thinking Kandinsky (hence my question about Russia).
