Obviously not Rush. Despite their snakes and arrows the only animal in their titles after 2000 is a monkey. Heavy prog?

Clues: on PA, North-American, not {Symph Prog, Eclectic, Post-Rock, Prog Metal, Post-metal, Crossover, Heavy Prog}, post-2000, an animal in the title, not "Black Dog" by Steven Wilson, not "The Main Monkey Business" by Rush.
???

Sorry, my knowledge of post-2000 prog is ridiculously feeble.
Now the band is N-American. US?

That's okay. I come from the Walter school of "everything after 1989 is bad" so I am pretty much in the same boat as you.
Yes, from the US.

Not Kayo Dot.
Walter was a forum user who used to come around, drop into every thread and insist that no band started after 1989 was any good. It was pretty much the only thing he ever said, and over time he came to be regarded as a troll, although I found him very amusing.
He was eventually banned, but I wasn't active in the thread when it happened, so I'm not sure the reason why.

^ I know the reason, but I feel very sensitive about it. It's not a very good memory.

It's not Cap'n Beefheart again, is it?
