Oh wait, Jerry Berry's already dead.  And Iggy still lives.  Go figure.

Hmm, I'll have to check out the full version.  I've seen a Camel concert from this period before, but it was from 1976 (Moonmadness) I think, with a full Snow Goose and with Doug Ferguson still in the band.

Seen, like, live, really? Shocked

I'll get back to this tomorrow, now to bed. Bye.
Oh no.... it was some televised concert or something - probably on youtube now, my friend made me a DVD of it.

But I did see Camel live in person in 1982 (The Single Factor tour).  My first concert!    My dad and I were fans even that early on.

Clap

Did you catch any of the perhaps better tours later on?

Camel is the one of my biggest favourite bands that I still haven't seen live. Pretty much because their last tour took place before I heard of them.

I don't think there's any official release of that concert you had on DVD, it would be nice if it's good quality.
No, I never got the chance to see them live again.  I gather their US tours have been pretty small, few, and far between since then.  In fact, the one time I did see them, it was while my family was visiting Denmark, and not in the US at all.

When Camel Productions started their label, I think my dad ordered some stuff from them, and included in the letter that he and I were probably the oldest and youngest person in that 1982 audience.  We both bought and got got signed copies of "Never Let Go" and "On the Road 1982" (recorded very close to the date where I saw them, and with the same set list).

It's perhaps unfortunate that I only got to see them when the band was kind of in disarray (why else would you hire someone like Chris Rainbow to sing...  yuck...).  But then again, I was young, I was getting heavily into the band, and I loved it all - "The Single Factor" only seemed weak in retrospect (though even then it did feel like the album was too short).  And on the tour, they played a ton of songs from "I Can See Your House" and "Nude", two excellent albums by any measure.

This, by the way, I think is a clip from the 1976 concert I got off the internet.  It's professionally shot with multiple angles, so I'm guessing it was probably televised somewhere.

Oh yeah, that's the concert that partly appears on Moondances. There's no Snow Goose on that, though.

No wait, there is a couple of excerpts. They actually played in Helsinki two days prior to that Hammersmith show, I have a bootleg of the show but it's not very good quality. And it's missing the supposed encores, the two last songs of the Moondances release.

But

Quote "I Can See Your House" ... excellent by any measure

Yuck Tongue I think my favourite version of Drafted is the one sung by Chris Rainbow on Pressure Points.

I have been thinking about listening to On the Road 1982 for some time now, I do like it even though it's my least favourite era of the band.

Now that's a great bit of trivia.  Never would have thought they'd cross paths!
Also on "Russian Roulette" is Jeff Porcaro
My guess is that Chris will be stoked when he sees this.

Name that Douchebag

> Fly into Atlanta airport
> Have police shut down all entrance ramps into major highway for over 20 miles through heart of city in rush hour, so you can easily drive your motorcade without hinderance from commoners
> Thousands of residents stranded in traffic
> Go to fundraising event for 45 measly minutes, which people pay $500 to go to and even more to be photographed with you.
> Close down highways again as you run your motorcade back to the airport

I am so frickin mad at this douchebag.

I've been a Pink Floyd fan all my life, which is a long time.  Though I've still never listened to The Division Bell all the way through. Embarrassed

That happened to me once when I was driving down to Detroit Metro Airport.  I can't recall much of the details, but I remember that we were stopped at an intersection to let a politician and his entourage drive by.  I think that it was probably Bush or McCain, but I'll be damned if my feeble brain can remember who it was.
