I like it - it's got a cool, dark melody to it reminding me of the mellotron theme from Cirkus. Are you going to elaborate on it more? I wouldn't consider a song technically, with all due respect.

Oh yeah, more of a "work in progress". I just made it in like 20 minutes and that's what came out, so I've got some heavy elaboration/expansion to do (if I ever get to it).

I think you should definitely put some more time into it. It already has enough substance to go somewhere - it'd be a shame not to make into a legitimate composition. I could almost see it progressing into a Krautrock style main section. Maybe some thumping, driving Holger bass in there too. What do you think? You're the captain. Big smile

It could go anywhere, really. Probably going to add more noodling on the piano, make that more prominent, and maybe something bassy. I'll work on it a little now.

Alright great to hear man. If I had recording equipment I would love to collaborate, but that costs a few bucks. Disapprove

Mmm, yes, I loving the Jaga Jazzist esque keyboard tone and style. I don't know if that's what you were going for, but it reminded a bit of them. Smile It I could just provide some insight though, I like the main little melody below the keyboard on top, but I think you should branch that out and change it up after a few times. I don't know, just to add some variety. Also, a lot more Bass would be cool in the B part. LOL I'm treating this song like it's my own. I think it has a lot of potential, if that doesn't sound too pretentious. Tongue

No, I like your requests. I do plan to change the main section, it gets a bit annoying on my ears as well, though it'll stay until I can find something else. I'm definitely going to expand on the B part, it's just begun. I also plan to add more keyboard solos before the staccato section. I'll do some stuff with it tomorrow.

Do you have any knowledge of music theory? Certain modes/scales compliment certain progressions well. In the case of the main melody, depending on what type of chord it's placed on, you can choose the which notes benefit the overall sound. You could keep that in mind for elaborating on the melody.

Yeah, I took music theory at my school, so I know the basics of it. Progression really just went over my head, though.

Also, Boards of Canada are awesome.

Long live the Shred

I failed the driving test today because I was nervous, two more weeks 'til I can take it again. f**k.

Also I'm listening to Big Big Train because they are good and I like them. How's everyone?

I'm ok.  Hoping to go buy the new Godspeed album today.  And I'm listening to Tortoise again, wondering why I don't like them as much as other people do.  I introduced my dad to Tortoise over the weekend and even he liked them a lot.  I guess they're good, but they don't really give me any feels at all.  Not like Godspeed.  They give me feels galore.

The Smashing Pumpkins are playing here tonight.  I'm not going, but I'm kind of tempted.

That'd probably be a cool show.  I saw you were listening to the new album on the other thread.  I haven't been interested in them for a while, but I still like the Mellon Collie album.

Siamese Dream is still my favorite from them, but Mellon Collie is really good too.  The new one is pretty good.
