^ It is an incredible work by the band. I still believe that no band has surpassed Genesis in terms of prog output. Even listening to Trespass still gives me goosebumps after 40 years.

Almost every single track (except "Harold the Barrel", that is) is just ... beyond ... beyond!

Hear, hear!

My own favorite remains "Foxtrot," but I also believe "And Then There Were Three" is under-appreciated.   I saw the tour (the first one with Daryl Stuermer) and they were excellent!

I am a Foxtrot guy, but it is a close race with SEBTP.  Although I find myself listening to Then There Were Three quite often...

That's the best song on the album!

My favourite too but I consider the Battle of Epping Forest an essential part of that album.

but Battle of Epping Forest lyrics are hilarious and Gabriel singing that bit about Harold Demure is so funny.
They flutter behind you your possible pasts,
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Selling England By The Pound is probably my overall favorite. I am a complete nut and have collected loads of Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett cd's too. I don't listen to Genesis on a regular basis. I find myself going through mood swings and then I will return to their music once again and enjoying it for hours. Very common for proggers like me who in a short time will be in the rest home. I was told over the phone by an old Genesis fanatic friend that the "Genesis Live" had been recently re-released with additional material from the show. I searched Amazon and couldn't find it. Is it a box set? Watcher of the Skies, Get Em' Out By Friday, Return of the Giant Hogweed, Musical Box and The KNife was the original track listing. What has been added to the show?

I don't know about a version of "Genesis Live" with extra songs... but I have the Live Box-set, and that one has Genesis Live, and another live album, Live at the Rainbow (otherwise unavailable, as far as I know) which includes many songs that were not included on Genesis Live, among them "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight", "Cinema Show" and "Supper's Ready". As a matter of fact, I kind of liked the Rainbow album better than Genesis Live, and "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" is so much better than the studio version. I find Collins much more fun to listen live than on studio, too.

I will be looking for this! Thank you.

I'm a Collins as singer disliker. I do however like (love) Blood on the Rooftops, One for the Vine, Your Own Special Way, and In that Quiet Earth. I do not like Afterglow, Eleventh Earl of Mar, and Wot Gorilla?. The band definitely should have chosen Please Don't Touch over Wot Gorilla?. Most have agreed there is both good and bad on W&W, but choosing it as THE favorite just does not compute for me. What would elevate Wind & Wuthering above Trick of the Tale? This is not to berate anyone. I may be lacking enlightenment. There is a nice and unique overall mood on W&W that I appreciate and that the title of album aptly describes and which transcends even the weak material (this is true for all Genesis albums). Admittedly, the task of choosing a favorite old Genesis album requires some difficult judgement calls. I politely dissed Foxtrot earlier on this thread as the weakest of the Gabriel era. I still think so, but then again that's what I've been listening to and enjoying over the last few days.

Oh sure, they're very similar stylistically, but it just so happens that I like the songs on Trick and that I don't like most of the songs on Wind. "One for the Vine" in particular strikes me as a very unmemorable composition. But I'm starting to suspect that for a lot of prog fans, songwriting is of secondary importance. They're more interested in the sounds. And sound-wise, W&W is a world of its own. But I don't like the songs (save for "Eleventh Earl of Mar" and "Blood on the Rooftops"), and that kills it for me.

Wind & Wuthering is brilliant good.  Only some very very biased Peter lovers and Phil haters would not see the obvious allure that is ATOTT & W&W.

Well, I'm not a Phil hater and I like Trick a lot. So no, the allure isn't obvious at all.

Hello m8,Smile

Forgive me if I was a bit sharp.Wink

I find your second comment even more amazing as I always thought that AToTT & W&W were perfect
brother & sister albums. So I would think if you enjoy one you would dig the other.  Last week I was blasting the SACD
of Blood on the Rooftops on my 5.1 system and I thought that Steve Hackett was playing in my music room!

Simple:

Every record from Nursery Crime to Duke.Approve

After buying the LPs and CDs many times, I bought the 5.1 box set and it is simply a trip to heaven listening to the 5.1 mixes.

God bless Peter & Phil & Tony & Steve & Mike
