Then you'll have to check the progressive rock definitions. That might help you understand.

The relationship between a single original prog record (that obviously combines elements of classical music, jazz, folk, and psych-rock) and the whole of prog genre is no analogy to the relationship between two distant genres like jazz and rock-n'-roll. Plus, I really don't remember the band jamming out on the title track or jamming throughout "I Talk to the Wind".

Yep, it's a good album (especially the drumming from the unerring Mr Giles of course) but do you really think the 'roomier' areas of Moonchild are breathtaking? (or would wheezy/bronchial be more accurate?)
|
You know, I have never minded the last bit of Moonhild particularly. I thought it was a nice cooldown period ffeore the climax. However, on this particular listen, I realized that it is actually genius. I knew it would happen sooner or later.

^ yes it is. You know I can understand people taking jazz and just thinking of it as unorganized noise. I get that. The jazz element that Crimson has is quite good and if doesn't sound annoying to me.

I personally don't see what's so special about ItCotCK. I mean, I did go through a phase when I listened to a lot of the psychedelic stuff when I was a young teenager. I personally don't see how it even qualifies as Progressive - if that's Progressive, then any jam band should be on here, because to me it sounds like that's all they are doing: jamming out. Christgau, is that you old buddy? It's me, Lester! I've come back for you, Robert!
This is Kasey Kasem with some ol' bullsh*t from the internet. Here's the smash hit 'Giles Just Wanna Have Fun' recorded by Cyndi Lauper from her groundbreaking album 'He's so Fripp-usual', I hope you'll enjoy.

Think your only logical when you talk about Dream Theater. Dont know if I agree with ya here. The album is a true staple in the eclectic prog genre, let alone prog itself! I just have the feeling that some classics never die even if you yourself feel that it's gone stale.

So we're all in the love with the album IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING now!!! Ok.....I can live with that. Epitaph is my favourite track, but the drums aren't very predominate on it, so I think MOONCHILD should take the ranks. Oh god.....the forum still lives!!

| That line always struck me as rather sad.
But maybe I was comparing it to "When I'm needing a friend, I can talk to the wind," which has (as it's name suggests) a lonely quality, but still has a modicum of hope.
