Greek is correct!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it with Nana Mouskouri, but she may have sung it. It’s one of the most famous Greek songs ever.

The singer who recorded it the first time was certainly Greek. I’ve also heard it with a Finnish singer. Try to find the composer; he’s world famous.

I was trying to find the singer first.

The composer is very well known in the Nordic countries. But it may be easier for you to find the poet, given the hint in my last post. The poet is dead, the composer is still alive.
