Any network could've gotten it. They all follow these stupid chases like that.

I suppose the point would be less that they all do it, but more that they do or don't have a delay (Or should shouldn't). I would think that they might be open to being sued. By the family of the guy who killed himself - apparently for 'entertainment' and possibly by anyone watching it (especially children as it was mid day) and may be upset by it. They screwed up pretty badly as far as I can see.

I can see why Pat is so distrustful of the police. Philly cops be crazy.

We've had this discussion before, but I tend to like cops because they do a good job of protecting my life and property and I have never been on the receiving end of abuse, nor personally witnessed any abuse of another person. I think they have a very hard job and lot of people give them a very hard time, so I can sympathize with them. I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. That being said, I feel strongly that they should be filmed as much as possible to reveal abuses like the one in that video. |

Not that many in the US media seem to care (though they wouls jump at the first sign of a tree moving in any middle east country), but anyway, South America continues on the dark path. Chavez has been reelected. Populism/socialism reigns supreme.

Wendy's updates logo.
Given Burger King's recent changes to it's menu, and the changes McDonald's has made over the last few years, this hardly surprises me. Not to mention companies like Panera and Chipotle are starting to have a much bigger influence in the fast food market. Although maybe they don't think they can compete with those companies directly, hence this quote: "Ultimately, Brolick (their new CEO) wants the company to be seen as a "top-end" fast-food chain — better quality than McDonald's, but perhaps not at the same level as Panera." Personally though, I agree with him. We'll see how it turns out though. |

Wendy's has clearly been higher quality than Burger King or McDonald's. Their prices reflect that. I love the Baconator, and I don't really care what their logo looks like.

It is idiotic. But you know if they had said all kids should be equal, there would have been someone to come along and say that it is unrealistic to expect races with lower success rates today to improve significantly more than the races that are more successful today.

True. But how do you expect them to achieve higher success rates if you lower their standards? For future young adults, their highest levels will be quite lower than those of the other races (whites, asian), and no discerning employer will prefer to hire someone who shows lower skills than other candidates. The good thing is that there are many people in minorities that know that this is harmful and want to change this mind set. But a few whites trying to appear magnanimous and a few minority leaders trying to look like saviors, both trying to maintain their power and influence, force entire groups of people to actually be less prepared. An engineered dumbing down of people.

Exactly. If the policy is "minorities don't have to do as well to make good grades" then employers will notice this and it devalues the ability of good students to leverage their grades into good jobs or get into good colleges. In the long run, this will hurt minorities by making it harder for them to convince people that they are just as good as everyone else. |
