I think he has a fair point. Can those selections seriously be considered the worst albums ever?

If you're not into those kind of things.
No...I don't accept it.

Ruby was taking their jokes about the quality of this thread too seriously, but you should be able to accept someone's honest opinion because subjectivity blah blah bloo.

Impossible to answer with credibility. We all have our loves and hates, but even something most of us think is rubbish is loved by someone, possibly the artist's mum. And she might be the only one of us that's got it right.

From my collection-  The worst albums I have are  "Open Your Eyes" Yes,   "Love Beach" ELP,  "Kilroy Was Here"  Styx,  "Wee Tam" by The Incredible String Band,  which is unlistenable for me,  and "What Thou Wilt"  John Zorn.

On a side note my ex-girlfriend tossed out my copy of "Blackwater Park"... twice!  She loathed Opeth.   My current wife ,  and I have seen Opeth four times.   Good woman!

Gentle Giant-Giant For A Day
Ted Nugent-Scream Dream
Dedalus-Materiale
Black Sabbath-Born Again
Quatermass 2-The Long Road
Wallenstein-Blue Eyed Boys

Giant for a Day is a classic example of false expectations. Had the album come from any other band, I guarantee you its standing would be better.

I have a list!

Beauborg - Vangelis
Metal Machine Music - Lou Reed
Having Fun With Elvis Onstage - Elvis Presley
Coverkill - Overkill
Music from 'The Elder' - Kiss
Arc - Neil Young
S/t - Styx
Absinthe - Naked City (sorry)

There are plenty that come close, but that acts as my go-to list for things that caused psychological damage to me.

Worst prog apart from obscure stuff I own is the 80's Camel one 'Single Factor'.
They flutter behind you your possible pasts,
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

The albums contained in that list are the only albums on this planet I'd give a one-star rating to. */*****

What's interesting is, in that list, more than half those artists have created albums I'd give 5 stars to.

Lou Reed - Berlin
Vangelis - Blade Runner OST
Neil Young - Weld (Yes, released TOGETHER with Arc. Crazy)
Elvis Presley - S/t (Though Having Fun wasn't HIS fault, it IS his f**kin' voice)
Naked City - S/t

You are ten levels of awesome, friend.

5 levels for that Lone Wolf and Cub avatar
5 levels for that The Final Cut quote in your signature.

Hey, I like the Single Factor.  I'm going to stomp my foot and go somewhere to cry.

Join me over in the corner Steve. Single Factor isn't remotely as bad as Tangerine Dream's Melrose for example...

It's an acquired taste for sure. Takes a bit of time to grow on ya. I will admit, but not a horrible album. That's pushing it. Don't make Vangelis cry. Lol

I'm getting in the corner with the `Single Factor' camp! Not only is Latimar's playing in great form on it (he sounds really relaxed and loose, like he's having a great time), but it's just an easy going collection of melodic poppy prog. OK, no classic, and perhaps they could have been called the Camel Parsons Project by that stage, but it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. I'm proud to own it and stick up for the little guy!

The similarly dismissed `Stationary Traveller' after it might be even better!

Hey, I actively love 666, even "Infinity". I'd take The Four Horsemen over any of that Gates of Delirium crap.
