For me metal music dosen't fit to prog arrengements...cause of the mucky incompetence of the musicians and their lack of roots (artistically speaking)...you can't say let's turn to prog rock to become a prog rock band...it's not enough to put keybords in music to be called prog

Yes that's true!

Heavy metal is the antithesis of prog music!

Dream theater is NOT prog!

quote: to become a prog rock band...it's not enough to put keybords in music to be called prog (phillipe)

oh yes, i agree with that, and i mention the fact that the musicianship and artistic vision of a prog band is far beyond the boundries of the regular metal player, i like metal, i mean raw metal, but sometimes these "wannabe's" only mix things up

Hey Max -

Not sure how to contact you, so I'll post here.  I checked out what you had for IZZ.  Sounds good, but the link is old.  The IZZ official website is at www.izznet.com.

Thanks!

Alan

Phillipe:

Could you settle down about how metal can't be prog?  Dream Theater does concept albums, has complex song structures, imposes a number of time signature changes, features outstanding musicians and does a lot of extended soloing.  They just do it in a cosiderably louder manner than most prog.

I would like to add a new artist. How do I do it? Have you got any template or form, or should I just send a text in plain email message?

Thanks.

Well, to start with, I can add few prog bands from ex Yugoslavia, I saw you have only one ex-YU artist (Tako), while there were some more for example: Korni grupa, Indexi, Smak... to name a few. If you are interested, let me know, I can add Korni grupa, they have a short discography.

In my humble opinion and far beyond me being a Dream Theater fan, I do think of them as prog since most of their band members (specially Mr. Mike Portnoy) have prog influences such as YES, RUSH, PINK FLOYD, GENESIS (and it's not me just guessing, members themselves have said it before) and I also know they have several influences that ain't prog like ZZ TOP or POISON but I think that if they have just a little dash of proggy influence the should be considered a part of if, don't you think?  Peace,

Land

I think that Daniel Denis (of Univers Zero) deserves an entry for his 2 solo albums, and I'd be happy to do the bio.

Also, I wonder whether Tortoise should be included in the prog archive. Their music may not be exactly classic prog, but I think they appeal to a lot of prog fans.
