Well, I'm not a Phil hater and I like Trick a lot. So no, the allure isn't obvious at all.

Agreed, Good Sir Laz.

Wind & Wuthering is brilliant good.  Only some very very biased Peter lovers and Phil haters would not see the obvious
allure that is ATOTT & W&W.

Genesis is not my favorite band and I don't consider Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot or the Lamb to be a 5 stars album like a lot of people do. Anyway I'll choose Selling England By The Pound to be their best.

Good choice!  But, you must hear Foxtrot and the Lamb - soon...

Very difficult, so I'll just do my favorite from both eras...

Gabriel era: "Selling England by the Pound"

Collins era: "A Trick of A Tail"

Selling England by the Pound is by far the best, although Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme and Wind & Wuthering are all fantastic. I was actually surprised reading this thread, I thought I was like the only person on Earth who liked Wind & Wuthering. LOL

Selling England By The Pound is probably my overall favorite. I am a complete nut and have collected loads of Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett cd's too. I don't listen to Genesis on a regular basis. I find myself going through mood swings and then I will return to their music once again and enjoying it for hours. Very common for proggers like me who in a short time will be in the rest home. I was told over the phone by an old Genesis fanatic friend that the "Genesis Live" had been recently re-released with additional material from the show. I searched Amazon and couldn't find it. Is it a box set? Watcher of the Skies, Get Em' Out By Friday, Return of the Giant Hogweed, Musical Box and The KNife was the original track listing. What has been added to the show?

In the past I probably would have said Selling, but as I get older I love Lamb more and more. Such a cool, dark, creepy atmosphere.

I agree with these. After Hackett left the only album that interests me is 'Genesis', mainly for mama which I really enjoy.

Tend to think SEBTP is a bit overrated. I inderstand that it has three of the best prog tracks ever (Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, Firth Of Fifth and Cinema Show) but the other stuff doesn't do much for me. Thoroughly bored with both Battle Of Epping Forest and I Know What I Like. I also find the performance and production a bit flat. There isn't the atmosphere of Lamb or the earthy feel of Foxtrot that I love. Nursery Cryme is obviously very popular and that is easy to understand but Foxtrot has songs I can connect with emotionally like Time Table and much of Suppers Ready. NC is much more fantasy/folklore based. If you are heavily into tales of hermaphrodites and giant plants then its wonderful stuffWink
Trespass has The Knife with Banks showing his Emerson aggressive style organ playing. The rest of that album I don't care for tbh.
