From Martin Kielty via UK's 'Prog' magazine: http://www.progrockmag.com/news/focus-sign-deal-for-next-album/:
"Focus have signed to 4 Worlds Media in the run-up to the release of new album Focus X – and Thijs van Leer is celebrating a new era for his band. The veteran frontman says: “It’s a thrill to have finally completed Focus X. We are all ecstatic and looking forward to playing the material on the forthcoming tour.” He vows fans will be “surprised at the strength and depth” of the new tracks, due out in November. Organist, flautist and vocalist van Leer is joined by long-standing drummer Pierre van der Linden and bassist Bobby Jacobs, plus guitarist Menno Gootjes, who joined in 2010 for a second stint. Focus X features cover artwork by Roger Dean, who’ll be on hand to show the original work off at Fletching, East Sussex, on November 16 during the band’s UK tour." 08/11 Buxton Opera House 09/11 Hessle Town Hall 10/11 Glasgow The Ferry 11/11 Hebden Bridge Trades Club 13/11 Wolverhampton Robin 2 14/11 Runcorn The Brindley 15/11 Barnsley Birdwell 16/11 Fletching Trading Boundaries 17/11 Tavistock The Wharf 18/11 Sutton Boom Boom Club 19/11 Milton Keynes The Stables 20/11 Chislehurst Beaverwood Club David Robinson (F2 Music) has the album listed on his progrock.co.uk website as being released on 29th October, in two editions - pre-order price £11.99 (Limited Edition) or £9.99 (Standard Edition). Hey, these are awesome news! I saw them playing live in March, and the band sounded incredibly tight, I'm really looking forward to get this album

^ Agreed! I've seen them live too, at the Wolverhampton (Bilston more accurately) Robin 2 venue, and they were tremendous, but let's face it, these guys have been playing together off-and-on for quite some time now, so there's every reason for them to be a tight band. Should be a really cracking tour!!

Consider yourself lucky, as the band is going to be touring in your country. I live in Argentina, and this year's gig was their only one in here so far. My hopes are kind of high for a second time, anyway

They have played there twice: The other time was 25th March 2003 at Teatro Astral, Buenos Aires. They have played much more regularly in Brazil of couse, and to a lesser extent in Mexico. Hopefully, if the new material is well received they will come to you again one day too.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Dude, I was 10 years old back then ![]() ![]() Thank you for the good vibes anyway, at least in their last visit I could get a few autographs by the band (it was more of a pure luck thing than anything). I even had the chance to have a small chat with Bobby Jacobs and Menno Gootjes, I was wearing a Discipline shirt that night (the King Crimson album, not the band) and Gootjes was wearing a Kiss shirt, and we both agreed on King Crimson being an incredible band and how easily Kiss went downhill quickly, after releasing a semi-decent first album

The last two albums are criminally underrated imo so looking forward to this.
Seen them live about 2 or 3 times in the last ten years , always great value.

LOL! - When I was 10 years old all I had to listen to was The Beatles, The Searchers and The Dave Clark Five! Prog wasn't even a dot on the horizon in those days, but I loved my music nevertheless! The first record I ever had bought for me by my parents was 'Nellie The Elephant' by Mandy Miller - originally released in 1956...and when you listen to this, and realise the kind of stuff I was brought up on, perhaps you'll appreciate why I have such a nightmare these days trying to understand all the modern prog sub genres!! Needless to say, 'trumping' has been banned in our house ever since...

Indeed!...But I've just got to share this cover of one of their very old songs with you:
A tremendous effort - Live at Marillion Weekend 2007: Steve Hogarth is a truly great singer, but no match for Thijs van Leer when it comes to yodeling!!

God, I can't stand Hogarth, makes me sick To me Hogarth is to Marillion as Collins (vocals ) was to Genesis. Nobody can yodel as Thijs and very few have his charisma, I wish he joined with Jan Akkerman once more
