I love Fleetwood Mac, always have. They had like 8 albums even before the famous lineup got together, and a lot of those are really good too, though less commercial.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Fripp's people had threatened to sue the site for things like having the songs streaming on the homepage and the posting of lyrics in the forums, but I could be mistaken.

I've often wondered about the streaming of songs, and what permission is necessary there. Is it essentially any different from a radio station playing a song on the airwaves?

I don't know. I think that the site gets permission from the artists to include the song for streaming. However, I don't know how universal that is.

I think the whole digital/internet paradigm has the music industry scratching its heads, as they try to draw the lines between what is and what isn't allowed. It's all very unclear to me.

I have no idea if the site is able to track the number of times each song is streamed on the website, and whether or not they are required to submit a penny each time a track is played. It is my understanding that Spotify pays the artist each time a track is played. I think that I read it was a ridiculously low amount though. Like they might get paid a penny for every hundred plays or something like that.
