plug.dj is a social media site that acts as a virtual club (see link at bottom for more details) where you take it in turns playing youtube vids from a playlist to the rest of the room. You don't have to actually dj you can be passive if you want. (it's basically turntable.fm with no licensing issues if you've used that).

I think it would be awesome to have a room for progarchives people.
I am working at home for a week so will try to keep a room up on the site whenever I can.
It will always be called 'ProgRockA'. (obviously I can't call it progarchives as I have no right to unofficially represent this site). ie url would be  http://www.plug.dj/progrocka/ in this case.
You can come in and just listen, or DJ yourself. I will be AFK a lot bcos I'm working but I'll keep a playlist going of some obvious prog picks. If you drop in say hi in the chat.
My avatar name on there is 'ByTor' and you will see me as a stupid cartoon bunny rabbit or something.
Even if you can't participate it would be great if you could leave your avatar in there because as with most things like this it really needs a critical mass of people to start growing properly.

My motives are purely selfish. I just want you guys to play all those obscure songs that I haven't heard. If you get a good bunch in there you can hear lots of new stuff (was in a room last week with some guy playing me Croatian space-rock I'd never heard of and it was great).

I will try this for a week and 1 of 2 things will happen.
1. We'll establish a plug.dj room name that anyone can start up or go to and have a good bunch of users to play new stuff and old classics and chat about music
or
2. No-one will bother and it will die.

I don't really mind either way but as I said I've got a week at home and will try to get it going.

Jester.
try the link   http://www.plug.dj/progrocka/  it should go directly to the room.
You log in via facebook or google so if you are logged into one of those before you hit the link it should work
If you get in we can chat and I'll help out with playlists.
We got 4 people in here atm.

(if you are George Eleftherio your avatar is still in the room)

My biggest complaint is that it doesn't support uploading music from your computer, but that's probably what keeps it internationally accessible.

Yes, that is indeed the biggest con, but there is a lot on Youtube we can use - plus one can always add more.

I think this Youtube/Soundcloud gizmo also makes it more stable compared to free upload sites...

Cheers to the people that came, even if it was a short stay for some.
Had 9 people at one point. Not bad for first day but quite a few were randoms.
As I said I'll try to get the room up whenever I can this week and see how many end up liking the idea.

Thx for the new people who came.
Just a quick note - people play metal and hard rock in there too. If we get a few PA people together its no problem to make another room and split off to play some prog so dont be put off if you enter and see some melodeath being played.
