What's your favourite TMV album, Austin? I've read that you really like the newest one. | Hmmm...
1. Deloused in the Comatorium - Best mixture of their characteristics 2. Noctourniquet - Emotionally charged, catchy, best vocals 3. Amputechture - Really strong long songs, omar finds an obvious comfort zone 4. Frances the Mute - has the greatest song ever written (Cassandra Gemini), classic Cygnus, Widow and Miranda's ending are weak points, plus i wish the title track made it. 5. Bedlam - hard hitting, but super long and sometimes becomes monotonous, Goliath/Cavalettas/Llyena are some career highlights. 6. Octahedron - consistent, accessible
|
Whoops - mine is like the polar opposite of that. But I like all the albums. They're my favourite band my quite a distance.
1. Frances The Mute - The perfect album. (Add the title track at the start and it makes it even better)
2. The Bedlam In Goliath - Crazy, but crazy good. It's like being punched in the face with awesome for 75min
3. Octahedron - Has 'Luciforms' in it which might be the best song ever. Half the songs are classics half are simply good.
4. Noctourniquet - Took bloody ages to grow on me. Some amazing stuff but not got the overall wow factor.
5. Amputechture - Tetragrammaton has some awful bits, Meccamputechture is too long. Last track might as well not be there. Rest of the tracks are great
6. Deloused In The Comatorium - Starts off great but Eriatarka is grating as is The Apparatus... Televators is awesome. Too much emphasis on hooks that I just don't like.
|
O_O! Not sure what to comment on first :O! Calling some of Octahedron classics and then saying Noctourniquet had no wow factor is interesting.
|
I know... I'm a strange one . Octahedron has Luciforms, Since We've Been Wrong and Halo Of Nembutals which I think are some of TMV's best songs.
Noctourniquet... hmm well I just don't get the 'wow' factor because good songs only come in ones and twos and then a terrible song kills the mood. (Lapochka? ew). The short songs don't give thinks time to get going and just as you start to get into something it's gone. Where's the 'daringness' gone TMV? You used to be willing to try anything no matter what people would say. It just seems like they reigned it in a bit.

Ah cool, interesting opinion. What do you think of Amputechture - that's an album what usually divides TMV fans.
Would you describe Frances the Mute has having extensive end/into filler? | Intro filler? |
Miranda specifically, though i love the build up of sounds and tinkering. The ending though is :\
Though the title track, if you've ever heard it, has 4:30 of distorted bells.
|
Yeah, I think Frances, the album, could have done without some of the sounds in the intros and endings of some of the tracks (was that what you ment?). I wouldn't think there were something missing if the end of L'vi l'viaquez, from the eleventh minute mark approximately, the distorted voice, and the first four minutes (approx.) of Miranda, for example, weren't on the album. I quite like the end of Miranda though. Amputechture is good IMO, but doesn't reach the same highs as De-loused and Frances. I think I prefer Bedlam to it actually, although the highlights are too few and far between on that album too. Hadn't heard Frances, the single, before. Liked it! Didn't hear any distorted bells though. Guess that was the part that was cut out on that video

Yea, for that video most of it is cut out.
Pertaining to Noctourniquet, songs like Malkin Jewel, Noctourniquet, Zed and Two Naughts, In Absentia and Empty Vessel have these mesmerizing peaks. It's a like a really good post-rock ending. That's where the wow factor comes in for me.

I agree Alzheimers is a serious and tragic condition But political discourse in the US is a serious and tragic thing, but people make fun of it all the time

HERNY UPDATE So yes we're done working on the new house, the old one was appraised below the price though, so between bringing cash to the table to sell it and fixing this house, we're out about $60,000 WHOOPS I stepped on a nail and almost died of tetanus, but I didn't. Sorry I haven't been posting lately, I've been listening to Austin get mad at videogames :< It seems I've missed some DRAMA, as well as Max continuing to ignore us.

There's some moderator drama! And apparently Easy Money and Warthur are mad about JMA. Max lying to us is completely unsurprising. They're on version 10.12 now!
